NRSC Will Not Support O'Donnell [Update: NRSC now says it will support O'Donnell]
Fox News | 14 September 2010

Full statement by John Cornyn, head of the NRSC:

“Let there be no mistake: The National Republican Senatorial Committee – and I personally as the committee's chairman – strongly stand by all of our Republican nominees, including Christine O'Donnell in Delaware.

“I reached out to Christine this morning, and as I have conveyed to all of our nominees, I offered her my personal congratulations and let her know that she has our support. This support includes a check for $42,000 – the maximum allowable donation that we have provided to all of our nominees – which the NRSC will send to her campaign today.

“We remain committed to holding Democrat nominee New Castle County Executive Chris Coons accountable this November, as we inform voters about his record of driving his county to the brink of bankruptcy and supporting his party's reckless spending policies in Washington.

“In the weeks ahead, we will decide where to best allocate additional financial resources among the large number of competitive races at stake this November. While it's not in Republicans' interest to advertise our spending strategy to our opponents, it's worth noting that just yesterday, the NRSC's first independent expenditure ad aired in support of Dr. Rand Paul's campaign in Kentucky, where we firmly believe that he will win in November.

“It remains to be seen whether national Democrats will provide a similar level of support for many of their nominees, including in key battleground states like Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Arkansas, Illinois, and New Hampshire, among others. The Democrats' indecision reflects the fact that Republicans are on offense in at least 12 Democrat-held states and we are leading in the polls in seven of those 12 states.

“Finally, on the matter of the New Hampshire Senate race, while the results remain outstanding, we continue to monitor the Republican primary race, and we stand ready to fully support whichever candidate is chosen as the nominee.”

Differences between Bushes, Clintons, and Obamas are of degree, not kind.

Angelo M. Codevilla

That was an excellent piece he wrote, I've read three of his books after reading that article. Very brilliant man.

I have sent a strongly worded email to Sen. Cornyn to voice my disgust at his petulant behavior towards candidate O’Donnell. Denying her campaign NRSC funds only guarantees a DemocRAT will win the senate seat. I also said my monetary donations will be made to the candidates of MY choosing, not RINOs such as himself.

I urge other Texas FReepers to do the same.

Remember in November: Defeat the RATS, then the RINOs.

Sometimes you take the most conservative Democrat even if they register as a Republican. That is your RINO. If Delaware has a good shot at a Conservative winning, the GOP should not be attacking it. I do not know enough about this race or the candidates, but a blanket endorsement for Castle from the GOP and a blanket endorsement for O’Donnell from Palin speaks volumes.

John Cornyn is in my state.
What a shame.
I will lobby against him when his turn is up.

That 3.4 Mil is going to be needed to defend (his) seat.

Chafee is our best chance!
Specter is our best chance!
Scuzzyfava is our best chance!
Crist is our best chance!
Murkowski is our best chance!
Castle is our best chance!
When are they going to figure it out.
PRINCIPLES MATTER.

I hear you. This is going to be the most exciting political season I can ever remember, even Reagan.

What is happening with all the DOUBLE CROSSing by the established GOPer, is they are finally coming out of the shadows, exposing themselves and everytime they do, WE WILL PURGE them one by one.

Their egos and arrogance simply will not allow them to understand this concept, they do not think we have that power.

I would love to know just where the money strings are that tie these RINO to the Democrat party, those strings ARE there. I have no doubt in my mind that they are paid by the Democrats to sabotage the Conservative Republicans elections.

The more they do this, the stronger we get, we will never forget, we have become BADGERS.

THe NRSC, like most of the inside the beltway gangs have no clue as to the big picture. They are living in a by-gone era, lost in a time where there were plenty of decent people on both sides. The NRSC is wholly unaware that an insidious cancer called Marxism is now metasticising in the senior levels of a party, the Democrat Party, which has its roots with Thomas Jefferson. They, themselves are the naive fools content to worry about `rule of law`, but only for certain people... and have lost touch with the Republican base. We may disagree on an issue here and there, but the overall thrust of our concern is the preservation of our country, and freedom.

We have to start righting the course; this is IT.

It really is. We have theorized about such a day, and hoped it would never arrive. But it has. We are going to prevail.

I liked that summation BigEd. There was a time when both parties would support American Exceptional-ism. It’s scarce now.

“I think I am a member of the GOTP. GRAND OLE’ TEA PARTY.”

I’m with you. Just as Santelli of CNBC is credited with the idea of starting the TEA PARTY, I think you have just described how I will insert myself into political discussions. It will be fun explaining the “T” part.

You can contribute and vote Libertarian in Arizona David Nolan) and Illinois (Michael Labno) for Senate, they are already on the ballot. Also in Illinois Constitution Party Candidate and Retired Marine Randy Stufflebeam has a hearing on Sept 24th to get back on the ballot.

The GOP just created a third party.

Yes, they are creating a third party, but it's not us. It's them. They'd better find a new name, because the Republican party no longer belongs to them.

The GOP cannot have a majority in the Senate now because of O’Donnell and Angle. That’s the ENTIRE point.

Look, I hate the establishment as much as anything, but pragmatism has to come into play as well. Any shot we had at a majority went away with Angle and O’Donnell winning. They can’t win those states when we would have easily won those states with other Republicans.

O’Donnell is such a whack job that the RNC is worried she could bring down other GOP candidates because the press and everyone else is going to paint the GOP as extremist. And the problem is that O’Donnell and Angle are just that...extreme.

It’s sad, so close to throwing out the libtards and instead we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Sigh. I’d expect nothing less, we have a way of screwing things up time and time again.

For some time now, we’ve been sending our contributions directly to targeted conservative candidates (Sharon Angle for example) and NOT to the GOP dispersement crowd.
