U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner (D-NY) is opening an investigation into TV gold dealers... and cites hosts like Glenn Beck who he says "drive a false narrative."
Specifically, Weiner seems to be targeting Goldline, which is a regular sponsor of Beck's TV show, radio program, and web properties.
A press release announcing the investigation states:
Goldline employs several conservative pundits to act as shills for its' precious metal business, including Glenn Beck, Mike Huckabee, Laura Ingraham, and Fred Thompson. By drumming up public fears during financially uncertain times, conservative pundits are able to drive a false narrative...
Glenn Beck for example has dedicated entire segments of his program to explaining why the U.S. money supply is destined for hyperinflation with Barack Obama as president. He will often promote the purchase of gold as the only safe investment alternative for consumers who want to safeguard their livelihoods. When the show cuts to commercial break, viewers are treated to an advertisement from Goldline.
They are paid to advertise a product.
I guess the other media outlets have never advertised a defective product?

Not a waste of time at all. If they get the Justice Department behind this and a Marxist judge, they can take down all these players in one fell swoop. Censorship, why that isn’t what this is at all. It’s a criminal investigation regarding criminality gone rampant.

The accusation by the senator that he is a shill also by its very definition accuse gold dealers of being nothing more than 3 card monte dealers ripping off the uninformed public.
Hopefully these gold dealers can sue for legal redress to this defamation.

Not to be taken lightly...by using the FTC as a hammer against conservative talk radio Weiner can censor them or drive them off the air without crossing the line of First Amendment protections.
This is certainly an unusual level of honesty for democrats to admit they're targeting a product conservatives are advertising, but as far as false narrative...how ridiculous...the democrats are now blaming Beck for their economic mess?!!! And here Obama has been telling us all along that it was Bush's fault...Wiener better give ole' Obama a call and set him straight on their democrat "pass the buck" narrative if they're switching to conservative pundits.
The bottom line is, Weiner needs to be impeached over this. He is abusing his political office to demonize private citizens who disagree with him. Government power should not be a tool of personal vendetta.
