Palin Opens Up About Possible 2012 Run, Says She's Willing to 'Give It a Shot'
Fox News ^ | September 17, 2010

Sarah Palin may be edging closer to a 2012 presidential run, telling Fox News "I would give it a shot" if the American people think she's "the one."

The former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee was in Des Moines, Iowa, Friday for the Reagan Dinner, a big GOP fundraiser in the heart of water-testing country for presidential candidates.

Palin has remained coy about her ambitions, but she elaborated a bit in an interview with Fox News, attaching several conditions to the possibility of a 2012 presidential run.

"If the American people were to be ready for someone who is willing to shake it up, and willing to get back to time-tested truths, and help lead our country towards a more prosperous and safe future and if they happen to think I was the one, if it were best for my family and for our country, of course I would give it a shot," she said.

"But I'm not saying that it's me. I know I can certainly make a difference without having a title. I'm having a good time doing exactly that right now."

Palin, a Fox News contributor and best-selling author since leaving the governor's mansion last year, has become one of the Tea Party movement's biggest allies. She's also thrown her clout around in the GOP primary season with a string of endorsements.

She said in February that she'd be "willing" to take on President Obama in two years, and White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Friday he suspects she's testing the water.

Yes, Todd can be her VP, but they need to reside in different states.

Because I'm an individual who thinks and does not simply follow, I'm now reciting "lib talking points" whatever the hell that is.

She’s showed more strategic and tactical genius in the last 1.8 years, than any current politician; meaning she has the smarts to get things done.

What's she done? She's ran her mouth with endorsements and won some primaries. Good for her. I'd still rather have her get those 1.8 years back in the governor's mansion with executive experience, if she was to be a presidential candidate. I hope she runs for RNC chair instead and clean up that mess.

Let her play kingmaker rather than candidate and I expect Republicans will attract more voters to win in 2012 without as much media venom.

much media venom? LOL! Living in fear ain't cool NOR conservative. Do they give you pepperoni on Friday's?

It's not a talking point. The fact is that she resigned her term as governor. Resigned. Quit. Took off. Left. Larry Brown style.

Governing is a four year contract. She should have kept her job as governor and just not run for re-election if she has an eye on 2008. If she doesn't have an eye on 2008, great. She should go for RNC chair or something like that where she'll be very effective.

When she wins the Presidency, she’ll run the RNC, and she will clean it out. You can count on that.

the narrative will be that Palin and the Tea Parties have setback the Republican party.

Really? First they have to explain the RINO Dede backing the rat in the race and Lisa's actions. They have too much Krow to eat before they speak.

Palin will announce on November 3. If she was to announce before the elections, every person she’s endorsed would find their election would be about Palin and not the candidate.

Oh, you betcha. Sarah is far too savvy a politician to announce her bid for the WH before the mid-term elections are over.

My gut tells me that she would prefer to announce after the new Congress is sworn in, in January, but with the threats developing in the lame duck session, she may have to announce sooner, to shift the power dynamic.

Her announcement would throw the entire lib establishment into gut wrenching panic, and cause Reid and Pelosi to reconsider some of their more poisonous bills.

Dunno, but I'm sure her announcement will come at a point where it will achieve maximum effect and impact.

I think your right.

The MSM will trash her and praise Obama. It will be a VERY tough race of she were in it and I am not so certain she would win.

They would slander her like no tomorrow. It may become a losing proposition for her. A lot would depend on her running mate as well. But mostly they would trash her.

I think she would be a great leader for us. But no one would give her a break and the liberals would lie, cheat and steal to keep her out.

Probability of her winning would be poor.

LOL! MORE talking points.

First - she does what SHE thinks is right. NOT what her enemies think she should do. What part of that don’t you ‘get’ or ‘like’?

SARAH beats her own drum. The MSM, the commie rats and everyone knows it - WHY DON’T YOU?

GO Unconventional SARAH!

very well put and I think right on the money.

Although I am sad to say it. I wish her the best but she is doing far more now than anyone else could. She needs to step back and support someone else so we can win and put an end to this nightmare. She is not the only conservative out there.

And the baggage that she has, deserved or not, will be hard to get rid of.

WHO listens to the MSM? Nice to see the control they have over you - a conservative shouldn't run because the MSM would slander them? LOL!! HINT: they've been at it for two years.

Who do you know that bows to evil?

>Obama is also polarizing, and at this point, I think more polarizing than Palin will ever be. Will the media smears against Palin be enough to make people forget their massive anger at Obama? I really doubt it. <

Don’t underestimate the stupidity of voters who believe the media hype. Many people hate Palin and they can’t even articulate why. They think she is uneducated and a poor leader.

They refuse to look at her accomplishments and just remember anything bad about her. It would be a hard nut to crack.

>I’d be very surprised if she didn’t decimate her opponent in any fair debate.<

I would love to see her in a debate with Obama where they didn’t know the questions beforehand. She would CRUSH him

>The only reason she left the Governorship of Alaska was because she couldn’t use state monies to defend herself from all the scurrilous lawsuits the moonbats were filing against her. It was bankrupting her family, and stopping her from doing her job.<

Unless you really followed the news, people do not know this.
If you only watched alphabet news you wouldn’t know this.

I had to explain it to my aunt who hates Palin. When I said, obama did nothing in the two years of the senate .. she had no reply but went right back on how stupid palin was and how uneducated she was.

After I corrected her on that .. she went on with more left wing propaganda. Palin would be great for us. But she has been damaged greatly by the msm. They have twisted good to bad and bad to good.
