Officer in Costco shooting says man raised gun, didn’t know it was in holster
Las Vegas Sun ^ | 23 Sept 2010 | Cara McCoy, Dave Toplikar

Posted on 09/24/2010 9:34:59 AM PDT by Mr Rogers

This comes from a Vegas paper, so I'll summarize:

Day 1 of the inquest into the police shooting of Eric Scott at a Las Vegas Costco emphasized the large amount of prescription painkillers found in his body. The assistant DA suggested Scott was suicidal.

Day 2 apparently spent a bunch of time explaining why there will be no video...basically, the machines weren't working, sorry.

Then the cop who was closest to Scott testified. In his testimony, he says the gun found by investigators was in its holster, and that he didn't realize the gun was in its holster when he shot Scott. That info comes about 2/3 of the way into the article:

Don't be such a babe in the woods.

So how many people are lying under oath so far due to your conspiracy theory? I count seven.

You’d be suprised to know how little I value your opinion.

No, I wouldn't be in the least.

If you read the articles at the Las Vegas Sun about the inquest you would know that.

BTW - I've been following this case quite closely, and I've been on Free Republic long enough to let real news simmer like a good stew, so I'm unconcerned that "I haven't read the inquest articles yet".

They'll still be there when I get to them. I'm not advancing a conspiracy, I'm just remembering situations at work that could have arisen had unethical players been involved, as there are clearly unethical players from NkVd Metro & Costco involved here.

Are those the same people who pumped Scott full of Xanax and morphine?

You work for Metro? ;-)

Erik B. Scott - In Memory of Erik B. Scott Erik B. Scott - In Memory of Erik B. Scott ^ | August 20th, 2010 | William B. Scott Posted on Sunday, August 29, 2010 10:31:02 AM by FoxPro

*If a few ounces of integrity still exist in corporate America and in the Las Vegas sheriff’s office, then we can look forward to several responses within the next weeks, prior to the September 22-23 coroner’s inquest hearing into Erik’s death: Costco will give our attorney, Ross Goodman, an unaltered copy of the appropriate Summerlin-store surveillance-video recorded on July 10th. We know another copy exists, archived offsite, per Costco’s insurance requirements. And METRO’s Sheriff Gillespie will release the 911-call audio tape, at least to Ross Goodman, if not to the Las Vegas media. Anything less will be disastrous to both Costco and Las Vegas METRO.

Not sure that FR Jack Boot Lover is something I'd want to be known for, but you're free to "embrace the leather".

Different Strokes for Different Statists, I guess...

Actually ... my point was that the holster doesn’t make much difference. You can shoot through a holster.

You can 'shoot' through a stainless steel freezer wall, to.

BUT.... you have to be able to get your finger on the trigger first.

This gun was in a ZIPPERED POUCH. How was he going to 'shoot' it if he had to unzipper it to get to the TRIGGER or the SAFETY?

His action, even if wrong, was reasonable under the circumstances.

So... the five other bullets in the back, one of which was fired AFTER HE WAS LAYING DEAD ON THE GROUND, was REASONABLE?

What does that have to do with Costco having an open service call on their video security system days before the incident?

So... the security system goes OUT at COSTCO in Las Vegas, and the owners of the store are SO BROKE they can't afford (nor have in place a contract) to have a repairman come out RIGHT AWAY?

What if there were some shoplifters?

Read his other posts. There's NOTHING the Jack Boots can do wrong.

So, Snake - is it true that you're a big Lon Horiuchi backer, too?

"If he was taking that amount of drugs, he should not have been carrying a gun."

Did they specify how much and what drugs he had in his system. Did he have a medical requirement for them?

Sad.
I thought better of you. I was mistaken. This was an article, not testimony. Things are still coming out on the incident and there still aren’t enough facts for objective people to make an informed, fair decision.

I’m sorry but I thought that the police made a terrible mistake when they shot the victim to begin with, and unfortunately nothing in this report changes my mind. The intent seems to be to place all the blame on the dead guy and none on those who put him into that condition. Sorry to disappoint, but as with Phill we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

The Metro apologists are getting their butts handed to them over on the comments section. Sad, really...

Costco and the LVPD plan to keep it that way.

I’m not saying the police didn’t screw up and kill the guy, I’m not saying they did.
I’m saying the facts matter. I’ll wait for them.

Your problem isn’t that they shot him, but that they over-shot him? The shooting was either justified, or not. Number of rounds used is irrelevant in either case.

Over 40 eyewitness statements of people standing around Scott did it for me. Not one agreed with the police version and only 12 with some of it.

Wouldn’t “over shooting” speak to the state of mind of the cops? You know like, out of control?
