Obama tells questioner he's 'Christian by choice'

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – President Barack Obama, in a rare discussion about his religious beliefs, described himself on Tuesday as a "Christian by choice" who arrived at his faith in adulthood because "the precepts of Jesus Christ" helped him envision the kind of life he wanted to lead.

Obama talked about his beliefs when he was asked, "Why are you a Christian." The question was posed by a woman at a backyard conversation here, part of a series of meetings Obama is holding to talk informally with Americans.

This puts into context his reasoning for the church attending photo-op he and his family made earlier this month.

What Obama meant was, “I am Christian because it is politically expedient.”

If were not for politics, I question whether the President would admit any regigious affiliation at all. Certainly his past aquaintences, friends, colleagues and mentors were no fans of religion (Jeremiah Wright, excluded).

If you are going to be a career politician, you want to make sure you are “like everybody else”; a Christian.

It seems that Obama is implying that many if not most Christians are not “Christian by choice” and that his supposed Christian faith is superior to that of others. What a preening jerk!

I’m reposting this. Take a close look at Obama’s statement:

“So I came to my Christian faith later in life and it was because the precepts of Jesus Christ spoke to me in terms of the kind of life that I would want to lead — being my brothers’ and sisters’ keeper, treating others as they would treat me.”

As pointed out by another another FReeper, the first part there “being my brothers’ and sisters’ keeper” is from Cain trying to hide his murder of Abel. Levine pointed out there is a kind of creepy arrogance and entitlement in phrasing it that way. But the second part of that statement is much worse. Treating others as they would treat me? What an arrogant or vengeful statement and not the words of Christ at all.

His campaign didn't even bother to put out a phony one on their website as they did with that legally useless Certificate of Live Birth.

It would appear from his comments he “may” be a cultural Christian but I am not convinced he is a Biblical Christian. He never mentions Jesus and Jesus’ atoning sacrifice on the cross and the need to repent and turn from sin. BO is probably like my Unitarian-Universalist brother who thinks Jesus was a great teacher and social worker and nothing more. BO has also said in the past something to the effect of “Christianity is true for me but I can't speak for someone else.” Well Barry, the Gospel is true for everyone, whether they accept and believe in Jesus and the Gospel or not. Personally I think BO is either an agnostic or just a plain opportunist depending on the audience.

He practices by choice the "black value system" which includes commitment to the "black community" and the "black family," adherence to the "black work ethic," support for "black institutions" and hostility towards middle class blacks who are considered traitors to the black race. Notice he didn’t elaborate on “which precepts of Christ” he chooses to believe. THat whole “my redemption depends on community redemption” BS is cow crap. That ain’t Jesus. In my understanding of what is in the Bible there are two sources of reality in this world, “light” and “darkness”. If it ain’t light, it’s dark. Hence Q.E.D. one proves He is NOT the source of “Zero’s enlightenment”. One would refer, I suppose, to the phenomenon as “Zero’s endarkenment.”

If a church is not proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, then it is not a Christian church. Speakers on other topics should be relagated to the Fellowship Hall.
