You're arguing like a Liberal.

Raise taxes on the rich? Sure! Do it for the children!
Regulate businesses into oblivion? Sure! Do it for the spotted owl!

Point out that homosexuality is a bad way to live your life? OH! FOR SHAME!! What about his family!??

This forum ought to be able to discuss the pros and cons of current news items without automatically falling back into some emotional response about his family or how another freeper lacks humanity. No one here is sending gleeful hatemail to his parents. We would never do that. But it should not be unacceptable to take a traditional view of homosexuality and say that it is wrong.

I think maybe he was “experimenting”. If he was “dabbling” in homosexual acts, that would be more embarrassing than if he were convinced that he was homosexual. How would he ever persuade his family/friends/dorm residents that he was interested in girls, after being caught and “outed” while with a boy? I wonder if he had a girlfriend he was ashamed to face.

First, it wasn’t a kid, it was a young man.

Second, neither of us wants to see him dead.

Third, we won’t make excuses for his homosexual behavior and subsequent stupid decision to kill himself.

Humanity? Bwahahahaha!

Absolutely. And slapped with whatever penalties the law allows for taping people w/o their consent.

Clearly the tapers are without common decency and will excuse the suicide as nothing to do with them.

I hope they get real jail time.

Sure I do!

And God wasn’t politically correct about what should occur with men who lay with other men...

It’s just Frantzie, not Freepers in general. My guess is he prefers Asians who stay in Asia. I seriously doubt if their surnames were Thomasson or Oondatje, he’d be calling for their deportation to Europe.

Murder? Out of the question?

No. Not at all. Because the boy was a queer, these two video voyeurs should be charged with a Hate Crime. And be sentenced to death.

After all, we do have to recognize special rights for gays, right?

He is dead by his own actions and this is what happens when you put your tongue in another dude's mouth.

Actually it's what happens when you jump off a bridge.

I do care and pray for him, due to the actions of others and his personal weaknesses he deprived himself the chance to repent or seek guideance. To be that sad or hurt will always tug at my heart.

Perhaps, but the insinuations being made here are loathsome.

What are the insinuations? Please explain.

If I installed a hidden camera in your home and posted the conversations and intimate moments online for others to ridicule would you still think that it is only a misdemeanor?

Ravi's attorney would likely argue that (a) it was his home too, (b) his roommate invited over a person he didn't know, giving that person easy access to Ravi's belongings, (c) Ravi used the webcam - a webcam that his roommate was fully aware of - to look at his own home to make sure nothing was happening to his possessions, (d) Ravi recorded it specifically to keep a record of what this unknown guest was doing in his home.

His lawyer will further argue that while uploading it was arguably wrong, Ravi was incensed by his roommate's recklessness and acted out of anger in the heat of the moment.

No no no...I already posted my concern about making it a hate crime.

I just wonder about the intentional infliction of pain.

Frat house prank gone wrong. Sad. For the kid to kill himself over something like this is off the charts. Most normal 18-year-olds just laugh it off or boast of their prowess. Must have been in a pretty emotionally fragile state to start with. Can’t see the kids getting more than probation, if they’re first-time offenders.

They may not be directly responsible for this death, but they are two reprehensible pieces of trash who should be pilloried for being jerks.

Project much? How self righteous of you.

Kid got kicked out of his own room, and looked into his own room on his webcam. Nothing wrong with that at all. Surveillance of your dorm room isn't underhanded, It is how you stop theft - which has always been a problem (at least in my lifetime).

Note to all the little hedonists on here whining and moaning about this: If you have sex in your house and your spouse catches you with a camera, you not only wont get any sympathy from me - I will back your spouse.

If you want to say the room mate shouldn't have put it online - well the deceased shouldn't have kicked out his room mate for the tryst - it's about even.

Ravi may be able to tape his own phonecall messages, but if someone else’s phonecalls were taped using the same phone it would be just as much of a crime.

1. It is wrong to have secret cameras on anyone. Invasion of privacy is wrong.

2. The idiots who filmed him are not guilty of manslaughter. Plenty of people film others having sex or doing other private acts and this young man's suicide is not their responsibility, legally or morally. Although what they did was indeed disgusting and there are most likely some statutes against it. And they should be prosectuted for whatever illegal acts were involved, but NOT manslaughter.

3. Homosexuals know, deep in their hearts, that their acts are wrong, unnatural, unhealthy, and an offense to God. Thus the guilt.

4. It's a miserable story and everyone involved has done wrong.

Well, if you believe historic anecdotes, it’s probably a good thing they didn’t have web cams in Eton College or Harrow in England or we’d find out that most of English history’s noted figures could have been black(er)maled..
oops, mailed....
