Think the auto bailouts are still unpopular? Fifty-four percent (54%) of Americans say they are less likely to buy a General Motors car because the federal government is the automaker’s majority owner. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just nine percent (9%) say they are more likely to buy a GM car for that reason, while 33% say the government’s majority stake in the company has no impact on their purchasing decisions.Twenty-seven percent (27%) say they or someone they know has avoided buying a GM car because of the bailout and government takeover. Fifty-three percent (53%) say

I love my 2010 Cadillac SRX.

How's the air conditioning? My 2005 has been in the shop 6 times over the last 2 years and the AC still doesn't work.

Don’t buy Union made products; you’re simply fueling the evil when you do.

I live in Arizona. My car is black (what was I thinking?). The A/C cools down real fast though.

Add to it that Ford refused to take any government bailout money.

Well, I would at least hope these people opposed to GM will buy a car made in the USA to help an American family pay their bills.

So does this mean you would buy a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry but not a Ford Fusion?

If my husband and I needed a new car, we would not consider GM.

Take your pick...... BMW, Mercedes, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai....... plenty of choices.

The cars to shun, that is not to buy for those of you in Rio Linda, are those made by the United Auto Workers. Poor quality, poor workmanship, over priced.

It was not a “bailout”. It was a theft.

I would not buy a GM vehicle, nor a Chrystler, for that matter. It is like dealing in stolen property.

I’m with you. They stole my money against my will using the force of government. Since that act was well outside the Constitution, it was at least ethically armed robbery. I don’t EVER do business voluntarily with robbers. If they want my money again, their only option is to take it by force again. GM and Chrysler are both dead to me. Even if they paid back every stolen dollar, plus interest, I would not buy one of their cars (new or used) that was built after the bailout.

Ford never paid anything back. It never received any bailout so it didn’t have to.

I recently bought an "American" car, a 2010 Nissan Altima 3.5SR. Made in Tennessee by non-union workers in a red state. This is as opposed to buying a car made in socialist Detroit by lazy unionized workers who slam beers and drugs at lunchtime.

If anybody out there drives a Ford or a GM, you are contributing to the Democratic welfare state and might as well put Obama bumper stickers on your car and have another bumper sticker that says "I love socialism."

I bought a GMC Denali (used) and the first thing I did was to power down On Star. I don't want the Obama Nation bureaucrats deciding how many days/week I can drive my Gas Guzzler. Eventually ALL vehicles will have to be so equipped.

My son bought a GM truck, or I should say his company did for him.

It seems to be fair that they and Chrysler might even be putting out some quality vehicles....e.g. Jeep...

But...it doesn’t matter...Like Sherman....

“I won’t buy a GM or Chrysler car, if someone gives one to me I won’t drive it.”

Six Chevy’s, a GEO, and two Ponchos pre-GM bailout; bought my first rice-burner (a Honda Pilot) shortly afterwards. Not a bad car.

No more of this boy’s bucks going to the UAW (well, other than my tax dollars, the bond funds lost by my mutual funds, and the like).

Now I see Saturn, Hummer, and Pontiac are all defunct. All GM spin offs. To bad Pontiac had some cool cars in the day, Saturn was probably a response to political pressure and Hummer was just too bad ass for the feminine liberals to handle.

You could also order a 428 PI motor in a short bed truck in 1969.Sounds crazy but you did have a choice back then.

I wonder how they wont go bankrupt again? How's the Volt sales doing? Will the gov’t hammer other automakers through recalls but not their own? Will their union employees continue to smoke weed and drink beer at lunch? Inquiring minds want to know.
