Several blocks of the deadly C-4 explosive were found Monday morning in a Lower East Side cemetery, police sources said.
There was no cap or detonating device with the blocks, meaning they could not have exploded.
"But it's still C-4, so it's being taken very seriously," a police source said.

Lucky for me, the Marines never adopted that particular technique.Okay, I am so not going there with the USMC lest I have every jarhead on free republic flaming me and I'm not wearing my fireproof undies today! LOL, Just kidding. Love my brothers in the corps.

A caretaker came across it a year ago and set aside by a tree where it has been this whole time.

I too, being Amish, have stipulated in my will, that I must be buried with 4 blocks of C4.
It will come in handy when the brothers try to steal my 72 Virgins.

But does it work as well on D-Rats D Rats were a 'chocolate' bar (and I use the term loosely) with all of the gastronomic appeal of a slab of congealed wallpaper paste.
But yes, I understood your meaning.

Most calls we had for local graveyards was old dynamite left in the gravediggers shack. This was used to bust up frozen ground in hard winters. RSP ...crapload of finger nail polish remover ..... If gallons of acetone couldnt be located ...:o) Stay Safe ! The holes I've had to shoot in frozen ground were a bit smaller than a grave, and my answer has been FIXOR, a Canadian binary that works very nicely as a kicker charge.
Acetone [paint shop] or nail polish remover [drugstore] works real well for breaking down double-based nitroglycerine/nitrocellouse reloading powder like Bullseye, too.

The current term, helpfully supplied by mech infantry types used to working with tracked vehicles, is a track pad, used to describe the *ranger cookies* in MREs, the replacement for the D-bar. That's still about as bad.
The current MRE peanut butter crackers are a little better, but get old real quick. The fig bars are as bad as they sound.

Thanks for the update, it’s good to learn new things everyday. ;-) Glad to know that the boys on the ground are getting some good use out of the MRE’s. God bless them for their continued sacrifice......

The D-Ration was intentionally formulated by the labs at Hershey’s to taste ‘a little better than a boiled potato’. That’s from the Hershey’s web archive on their own site.
The idea was to create a heat-tolerant ration that was good for fending off starvation, without being something that the troops would be inclined to scarf up before they needed them.
I’m familiar with vehicle track pads. It just never occurred to me to gnaw on one. :-)

To partially segue back into the topic of the thread, you supposedly *can* eat C-4. It just makes you talk to your dead relatives and bark at the moon.
Since the ‘stuff’ was found in a cemetery, I’m guessing it was Mike Pearson having another go at the Tall Man.
