Thank you for the post!
There is a reason why they called these folks “The Greatest Generation.”

That was amazing!
I kept thinking at each photo “that’s going to be the best one”.
I even liked the one where the compiler shows two Nazi’s, one of them throwing a grenade, and he quips “I know, other side. Still humans”.
The guy in the sub, the kid pulling on Dad’d leg, of course Korea, etc.
Just amazing.
Thanks.

Thanks very much for this post! Reinforces my pride in America and everything she stands for. We will get through the current attack on our values, and hopefully be a strnnger nation when the Obama dust settles... as it will most certainly will.

That’s an excellent picture. B-17E over Europe? What a way to go through a war. Don’t those kids know that they are too young to do that? Fat and happy at 88? Good for him!

Definately a Great generation but I wouldn’t agree with Brokaw that they were the greatest. In my opinion two rank higher....#1 1755-1775 the generation that battled indians, the wilderness and the greatest army on the face of the earth at the time to found the United States. #2 1840-1860 the generation that fought America’s bloodiest war and helped start the widespread settlement of the western part of the United States. Just my 2 cents.

They were shot down on this mission over Weisbaden 8/15/44 and spent several months in Stalag III. Was liberated by Geo S Patton himself whose son in law was a POW there...
