What’s the theory on why they did this? The standard leftist line is that Obama has already released the form. What does SNL gain by highlighting the fact he hasn’t?

SNL is pure liberal poison. Even when they appear to be attacking the president it’s only done in the context of saving a pivotal face of washington democrat power - Majority Leader Reid. Everything SNL does is calculated to assist the liberal. Pure poison.
There was a rally declaring Obama an imposter in D.C. right before the airing of this episode. Coincidence?
Didn’t expect to see this on SNL.. It’s not an issue worth building a movement around, but I still believe he’s hiding something. something BIG.

It sounds like they liberals at SNL are angry at Obama, but since he is a liberal they don’t have the stomach to attack him. BUT they are angry at him soooooooooo they are using a conservative attack line which in their heart they don’t really believe but they need something.
