The National Republican Senatorial Committee is dropping a massive $3 million TV ad buy in California this week, a sure sign that Republicans believe they have a good shot at knocking off Sen. Barbara Boxer (D).
The new spending brings the NRSCs Golden State commitment to nearly $8 million, all in support of former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina's (R) campaign.
The ad buy comes a day after a public poll shows Boxer inching ahead. A Los Angeles Times/USC poll showed Boxer opening up an 8-point lead -- 50 percent to 42 percent. That number tracks with private Democratic surveys that show Boxer ahead.
Republicans are pushing back on that poll, however, saying their internal numbers show the race much tighter. Republicans are conducting two tracking polls in California, and committee sources say both showed Fiorina only 1 point down at the end of last week. Meanwhile, the Republican polls show Boxer mired in the mid-40s, a dangerous position for any incumbent.

Don’t trust push polls from the LA Slimes. They have a lot of skin in the game. Stay with more reputable organizations such as rasmussenreports.com which show the race dead even.
I wish they’d drop some here in PA.
Sestak is getting an uncomfortable amount of traction with his “Toomey wants to send your job to China” smear campaign.
People here keep falling for Charlie Brown and the Football....believing that if ONLY they could elect the “right” politician all of this outsourcing would stop.
Elect Sestak and a year from now you’ll be just as disillusioned as the neighbors over in Ohio are with Obama.
He is NOT going to end outsourcing to China or anyplace else!
Scott Brown (R-Mass) was 9 points behind when he snatched the Dem seat Kennedys held for 50 years.
Gee, I hope Obama does a fly-in for Boxer-——it was that last ditch fly-in he did for Coakley that turned the tide for Brown.
Obama was here on Friday for Boxer.
Agreed. They should lock in Toomey.
Yet they’ll do next to nothing in Delaware where a Conservative is running vs. the “California Conservative”... Go figure.
DE-FUND THE NRSC.
It must be something in the water out there.
I hope Boxer is sent packing.
If it weren't for the Repub elite, this WOULD be a tight race.
It's probably much closer than ANYONE is reporting.
Massive? Will that even buy a 30 second on the Super Bowl?
PA / WV / IL / CO / NV / CA / WA
I know people are nervous about PA but the polls from the past 7 days have Toomey +5 and Toomey +4.
I am hopeful mainly because at a core level Sestak is liberal to a degree that is actually offensive to most Keystone Staters outside of Philly and Pittsburgh. And his record is too well-documented to run from it. But I am just so disgusted by this prevailing attitude that “we need to elect Democrats so that we can all have jobs”. If that were true Pittsburgh would have been running a 0.6% unemployment rate every year since 1937!
plus Pete DuPont just endorsed Christine O’Donnell.
I am STUNNED....but it’s a good development.
They would rather spend their money helping elect RINOs than helping elect conservatives.
BTW, if the GOP takes the House and California goes belly-up on pensions, etc., they better not even ask for help from Congress.
Boxer, Pelosi, Brown (and about 75 just like them that you’ve never heard of in the CA legislature) are all leftovers from the 60’s-70’s when CA was the state that had it all. Without trying to sound goofy, CA really had just about everything going for it: Massive defense contracting, incredibly diverse industry of any kind you can imagine (well...except maybe coal mining) beautiful scenery, ocean, mountains, desert, oil supplies, among the best universities in the country, big cities, very rural areas, a giant agricultural industry....it was by any measure limitless. There was something for everyone. At the time, CA appeared invulnerable to any kind of damage, other than from earthquakes, and since nothing can really be done about that threat, we party on. And so it bred the thinking that literally anything could be tried here. And it was. It should be said that CA was quite the conservative state back then.
Thirty, thirty-five years later, and the effects of liberalism are seen everywhere. There is literally no aspect of CA that hasn’t deteriorated into a crumbling state, no pun intended.
But somehow, there is never a connection made between the type of government we have had during this time and the condition CA has gotten to. It’s never pointed out that the decline in the general condition of CA has largely parallelled the ever increasing number of liberal Democrat policies instituted by ever increasing numbers of liberal politicians.
And that’s the way it stands. Most uneducated voters consider CA an absolutely boundless sack of money that can be extracted from voters who will just hand it over. Meanwhile, the environmental agencies in the state keep turning the screws tighter and tighter, until essentially no industry can exist here without massive tribute paid to functionless bureaucrats. We’ll see how this next election turns out. I consider the Boxer/Brown elections pretty pivotal. There won’t be any turning back if Democrats grab what is certainly this last chance at correcting any of this.
How about them dropping some $$ in the US 9th TN....we stand a chance to oust the pelosi/reid/obama clone steve cohen a career politician first at the state level now national!

Makes me sick that Mark Kirk could be “our” 51st vote. I can’t see any good coming from that.
This is the NRSC, not the NRCC.
