A voicemail from Gov. Charlie Crist to Democratic Senate candidate Kendrick Meek from earlier this week emerged on Saturday, suggesting Crist asked Meek to withdraw from the three-way race.
The existence of the voicemail comes a day after questions arose about whether former President Bill Clinton pressured Meek to give up his bid and back Crist.
Meek says Clinton discussed the topic but didn't press him to exit the race. Instead, Meek has said it was Crist who asked him to withdraw.
In a voicemail message left for Meek by Crist at 5 a.m. Monday, Crist asks Meek to meet sometime that day after a political event where the governor asked the Democratic congressman face-to-face to bow out.

There have been several exposed politicians lately but Crist is deinitely making a play for the most infamous of them all this political cycle. He’s had good competition but the 5 AM meet up calls may have won it for him.
I can’t see how this story helps anyone but Rubio. Neither Meeks nor Christ comes out squeaky clean, but Rubio is above it all.

I’d like to offer Meek some free campaign advice. If Crist asks to meet with him in the Everglades between now and Tuesday to discuss it further, decline the invitation.
No, it will not affect Rubio, but the run for second place is close. This could cause Crist to finish 3rd. Poetic justice.

Didn’t Meek initially allege that Clinton asked him to give up, he subsequently declined and has now backed off implicating Clinton? Am I remembering correctly?
Dang it! I always read “Crist” as “Christ”, and thought this was something about the meek inheriting the Earth.
I may be mistaken but I think it was one of Clinton’s hacks that said Clinton asked Meek to get off the bus. Clinton then discounted his hacks story. I don’t think Meek ever admitted it.
