The Melkite Catholics have only 1.3 million members in all the world, so he is speaking for, at most, one tenth of one percent of Catholics.

What a crappy excuse. This was spoken from the Vatican, over a synod that his popeness officially presided. Every G-d-fearing person knows this was an official slam.

I haven’t seen anything on Vatican websites about this. I think it is a hoax.

Yeah, right. You are fooling yourself. The real hoax is that his popeness thinks that by not saying anything about this he gets the benefit of ingratiating the moslems, without the charge of supporting anti-Semitic supercessionism.

Bottom line: Joe Ratzinger, the German, is doing what we would expect him to do... letting his minions blame the Jews.

The Vatican, doing its job, is looking toward a lasting peace, not nullifying the Old Testament—operative word here, btw, being “Old”.

Now that is funny. You nullified your own comment, all in the same sentence. If calling it "old" is not nullifying, what is? Sheesh.

“The Vatican has just nullified the Bible, and elevated Replacement Theology in full public view.

They nullified the Bible over a thousand years ago. It’s deeper than that; the Vatican has been the instigator and leader of anti-semitism for all of its existence. It’s showing its true nature now.

“I guess that they don’t take the Bible seriously in Rome.”

No, they don’t. They’ll use it whenever it bolsters their purpose and oppose it when it doesn’t. What do you think its Author thinks about that?

“These Arab Bishops have tended to lean against Israel over the decades, in part for the protection of their flocks.’

That’s like Bill Clinton saying Sen. Byrd had to join the KKK in order to get elected. He did it for you.

TERRIFIC!!!!! I second that motion!

This same article was posted earlier at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2617922/posts and it received the same Catholic bashing responses. Apparently most people failed to read the article or do not understand the facts.

Mr. Geer screwed up in a major way. Bustros, NOT a Roman Catholic, was speaking for his group. The fact that he said it at the Vatican does not mean it was from the pope or sanctioned by the pope.

Mordechay Lewy, Israel’s ambassador to the Holy See, told The Jerusalem Post that Bustros, in saying that Jesus nullified God’s covenant with the Jewish people, was “returning to successionist theology, contradicting Second Vatican Council teaching and Pope Benedict himself – who has welcomed the return of Jews to their ancient homeland.”

Please read some of the more informed posts before going with a knee-jerk reaction.

Also, please read the second paragraph of this article (source of boldface quote): http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/id.7745/pub_detail.asp

I imagine Mr. Geer, too, will be explaining his error in a similar future article soon.

This is not an official Vatican position. It is the statement of a Synod of Catholic Bishops from the Middle East, meeting in the Vatican, at the invitation of the Pope, who did not participate in or control its deliberations or proclaim its results. These Arab Bishops have tended to lean against Israel over the decades, in part for the protection of their flocks.

From post #15 by Lucius Cornelius Sulla.

And what is this "popeness" crap, Tzfat? Calm down and get all the facts before you start your cutesy name-calling.

Someone please tell me that this is not an official Vatican position.

My information from someone close to this "Not the chosen people" thing is that the Vatican recognizes that it is not well represented by such a statement and is working on a "clarification."

As if on End Times cue, the Pope is also issued an encyclical demanding a global economic and wealth and energy re-distribution regime with “teeth.”

So in addition to demanding the UN impose a “peace” agreement on Israel in which they surrender Jerusalem to the Arabs; the Pope is also demanding a global communist regime ruling over all the “states” which we know as Nations. He’s also mentioned a global system of “morality” that will be inposed on the “States” which will kill “fundamentalists.”

This is all so reassuring./s/

The world’s economic elite are going to crash the dollar and US economy and then move to fulfill the Pope’s wishes in the Senate.

The Pope invites then, then doesn't participate. What's up with that?

The pope has commented - Peace is possible in Middle East, pope says at synod's closing Mass

If you have been following the situation in the Holy Land, Israel has set up walls to separate the Palestinians from the State of Israel. The end result has been turmoil.

Palestinian Christians Barred From Jerusalem for Easter

The Jews fled Israel in the 1st century. Then, in 1948, the UN established the State of Israel. Palestinian families, who had lived in the same village for hundreds of years, had their homes taken away from them, packed up in buses and shuttled to a new settlement.

The community of Arab Christians is dwindling in the Holy Land

Many of these christians have lost their jobs and have no way to support their families.

Lucius Cornelious Sulla does not have the facts. He is making excuses for Ratzinger.

Wow. Revisionism. Please read the history of the slaughter and expulsion from the Land in 70 and 135 CE. It was not because Jews "fled."

As for these Christians, the history of the past 15 years is unknown to you? It was the pali-terroritsts that murdered and repressed Christians in places like Nablus and Bethlehem.

The synod's statement was anti-Semitic, and the host (the Vatican) said nothing to counter it.
