Candidates Hustle to Get Out Nevada's Vote

As the final lap approaches, both sides have shifted their focus to what strategists call the ground game.

For Mr. Reid, the Culinary Union, which represents most of the card dealers, bellhops and other casino workers on the Las Vegas strip, are working to make sure their members take time away from work to vote for Mr. Reid. The National Education Association is helping get Latino voters to the polls. And the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees has made three rounds of calls to government workers asking them to vote Democratic.

Mr. Reid is also relying on a phalanx of Capitol Hill aides, lobbyists and friends who have flown from Washington. About 30 aides to Mr. Baucus have taken leaves from their jobs to help Mr. Reid, including his chief of staff. Others pitching in include Washington Sen. Maria Cantwell's chief of staff, a top cable-industry lobbyist and a host of former Reid aides.

On the other side, the effort appears less robust. The Republican National Committee no longer organizes and pays to send hundreds of Capitol Hill aides and lobbyists into key races in the election's final days. RNC spokesman Doug Heye said those efforts didn't produce results to justify the expense.

Most Republican lobbyists have shied from helping Ms. Angle because they worry about making enemies with Mr. Reid in case he is re-elected and returns as majority leader.

"Most of corporate America has made a tremendous investment in Reid over the years," said Sam Geduldig, a Republican financial-services lobbyist. "That's one big reason why there aren't any lobbyists in Nevada helping his opponent."

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which plans to spend nearly $75 million on the 2010 elections, hasn't spent a nickel in Nevada.

Sorry. I didn’t post it for that reason. One of the reasons I haven’t given any money to the RNC or the NRSC or any of the other establishment groups is because I don’t trust them to spend it wisely. There’s absolutely no reason why that RNC and other groups aren’t helping Angle with her gotv. Hopefully she’s doing it on her own and the writer just didn’t find that out.

Doesn’t matter how close you are in the polls if you don’t get your people to the ballot box.

Saw another article earlier tonight saying basically the opposite, that the Angle campaign, while it didn’t have all the formal muscle of the Reid machine, was humming along at lightening speed, making highly efficient use of technology, getting more bang for the buck, etc. So it’s kind of a sleeper situation. Reid may be unprepared for the laser canon directed at his ample but archaic apparatus.

Obamacare continues the scheme of taking money from those who pay for insurance and funneling it to lawmakers and their families. Lots and lots of money funneling will flow to politicians and their buddies (those lucky enough to have politically protected CAT/MRI scanning centers) through inflated reimbursements.

Everyday is Christmas for these politicians.

The foreign occupier is a menace to our nation and damn near everyone living here.
