OK so I'm starting a little less than 24 hours before the polls open but let's get going. On this thread we can discuss races in MA, New England--and beyond. Howie Carr ping list members will be pinged (suggested you add this thread to favorites/bookmarks). If others wish to be added you may ping me (for this thread) though probably best you may just bookmark the thread.

Follow us through the long election day and night and beyond.

Obama and Biden are calling talk shows today.

But as Howie says, "If the phone don't ring, you know it's him"

Obama and Biden are calling talk shows today.

What we need is a complete list of everyone O or B campaigns (or calls) for -- just to use a checklist for keeping score! ;-)

Scanning dial around noon; on WCRN, Howie’s Worcester affiliate someone said they asked in Douglas—which went well for Scott Brown—how the turnout was. They said at a certain point they normally have about 450-500 voters. By that point
today: a thousand.

live updates from Salem News:

NELSON BENTON: “Baker camp upbeat early. Cite TV reporter’s exit poll showing 2-1 GOP edge at one Boston polling place, MSNBC prediction of Baker win”

BARBARA ANDERSON: “Just got a copy of two emails from SEIU sent yesterday. First one told union members to vote NO on all three ballot questions, against Charlie Baker, and for the Democrat slate. Second one is reproduced below.
‘If you received a recent email from SEIU Local 888 entitled “Election Day Tomorrow” at your work email address, please disregard it and/or delete it before opening because it is of a political nature.
We apologize for this miscommunication and any inconvenience that it may have caused you. We filter political emails that endorse the election or defeat of a candidate or issue to go to home addresses only. A technical error with our email system allowed this message to be sent to work addresses as well.’...

Everyone who believes that this was a mistake clap your hands to save Tinkerbelle and all the other little fantasy creatures.”

BARBARA ANDERSON: “Chip and I just voted at the senior center in Marblehead. First time we ever had to wait in line to park, wait in line to sign in, then wait in line to get a booth. I voted in the SN poll that turnout would be more than 70%. Even with that, feel sorry for whoever chooses not to vote. Aside from the severaly disabled and comatose, who ARE these people? I feel I should have a purple finger to type with now.”

to go to home addresses only.

So why are they allowed to send political instructions to home addresses? Seems to me what should be illegal is giving voting instructions, regardless of whether they're by email, loudspeaker or carrier pigeon!

FYI

Suburbs leading turnout. Boston is flat.

Hopefully that means good news for Baker.

In Conn..

>>Low supporter turnout for Richard Blumenthal has forced the campaign to send out an alert Tuesday afternoon urging supporters to get out to the polls. “Voter turnout appears to be heavy in areas that benefit our opponent,” The campaign email read”.” It is critical that we maximize our efforts to get our supporters to the polls. We need your help” Blumenthal is running against Linda McMahon in a highly publicized campaign for US Senate in Connecticut.

Re-ping, into the homestretch! VT polls close at 7, MA at 8
Will we have ind. of VT gov soon?

Some results being splashed on Fox, MSNBC, and others but mostly just 1 per cent or so, give it time

WRKO listeners: Howie is on till 7. Joe Battenfeld 9-mid.,
Avi Nelson mid-3 am. Other Boston stations have expanded
coverage. Guessing other Howie affiliates will have their
own coverage or talk.

UPDATE — From MA-04: A Bielat aide emails me to report “very high” turnout across the district, which “favors us.” Also mentions that WHDH-TV (Boston’s NBC affiliate) is reporting that Barney Frank’s camp is “worried.”

OK thanks, I was on a site that had the wrong info. Thanks for correction.

I did just email Howie and posted link to Howie facebook about the Kitty Dukakis in Hingham situation. Wouldn’t obey
the 150 ft rule!

I think Union Leader site was saying NH closes at 7 but there was a prob in Portsmouth and they kept it open at 8. Still not really sure.

Ch 4’s election coverage is airing now on Ch 38. 4/38 will go back and forth. Reporter at Baker party HQ House of Blues says they think we should know by 10:30 or so?

First polls show Dubie-R leading in the VT gov race. That one probably won’t be announced until morning at the earliest though.
