That said, I think Matthews is simply laying the groundwork for his post Nov 2nd/post-Obama future.
Matthews sees that Obama is a goner and unless he (Matthews) wants to ride off into the sunset with him, he had better start being honest about Obama.

He’s a weird guy. One minute he’s bragging that he was a Capitol Hill policeman, the next he’s bragging that he went to graduate school. He claims to be from the mean streets of Philly but I’m pretty sure he grew up in suburban Bucks County - one of the prettiest places in America.
