I’ve always thought that the gavel was comically oversized and assumed it was ‘tradition’. Your post makes me wonder if the majority leader choses the gavel or that huge things is indeed the traditional gavel?

Mr. Do! (the exclamation mark is part of his name) had a successful sequel called “Mr. Do!’s Castle”, he bashed monsters in the head with the hammer, instead of the power ball. Further sequel’s included Mr. Do!’s Wild Ride and Do!-Run-Run.
Well now there’s the time that she used that gavel to strike the hands of citizens reaching for the Obamacare document...remember? She told us we would have to let them pass the bill before we would be allowed to read it. Yes that gavel came in MIGHTY handy then. Ever since she said that, I have waited to see her exit office.

If the Democrats want to have any hope for the future, they will need to repudiate Pelosi. Reid and Obama explicitly and do it now. I hope a Democrat minority leader in the House is elected who actually understands what just happened. I hope a Democrat leader in the Senate is elected whose name is not Reid and who realizes that if we elected all 100 senators each cycle they would have been destroyed.
I also know that what I just suggested will not happen, and I am looking forward to the 2012 elections which will destroy the "corrupt bastards" as they deserve to be.
