A candid Michael Reagan dished on each of the main '12 contenders on Fox this afternoon.
On whether Sarah Palin can win a general:
"She has a shot? No. She is too polarizing. Can she raise money for the party? Can she get behind people and help them? Yes.
But she's too polarizing to be elected the President of the United States of America, and by the way, I'll hear about that on my Facebook page."
On Rick Perry:
"Look at the Governor of Texas -- Rick Perry. Probably the most Reaganesque of everybody out there. Has a new book out there, Fed Up.
Would love to be the President of the United States of America. Most Reaganesque."
On Mitt Romney:
"What Mitt Romney has to do is find charisma. He's got the Meg Whitman problem -- can't relate to anybody making less than $1 million/year.
If he wants to get the nomination, he's going to have to learn to relate to the people in Iowa and across this country."
On Jeb Bush:
"Most qualified Republican on the planet is Jeb Bush.... the problem is: his last name is Bush; not Reagan."
On Mike Huckabee:
"Very good, but with Mike Huckabee, he's got the problem with the police officers in Seattle. I know it wasn't his fault, but he'll be blamed for it. He's going to have a problem with that.
But I will tell you this: if you want to be the President of the United States and get the nomination, you need to have the passion of a Michael Huckabee.
Truly the passion. Right now a lot of those who would like to be President don't have passion in their voice.
They're not believable when they speak.

BUMP....or Perry
I don't know - did I call Perry a RINO? Let me dial it in a bit better. What Perry is, is a politician, first and foremost. He catches which way the wind is blowing and changes direction as fast as he can to match it.
The one good thing I can say about him is that when we conservatives start pounding on him, he listens, and adjusts to our will.
Having said that, I hear that his new book is very good. Mark Levin had him on the show (last night?) and expressed a great deal of admiration for him. That's one hell of an endorsement in my book, so I'll cut him some slack.
And, in the interests of full disclosure, I'll admit that he's gotten my vote in his last two elections.
Polarization is great if you can communicate ideas like the Gipper. Alas, few can or ever could.
the funny thing the elites haven’t figured out is that most people don’t understand “polarizing” IRT to politics. It’s ameaningless term to the majority of the people.
If 51% of the voting public sides with Palin on the issues and 49% are on the other side of the issues with Obama, SFW that we are polls apart.
MR Translation: Sarah should stay in the back of the bus and be the female equivalent of “house slave”.
I'm soo sure all of those don't-compare-Palin-to-Reagan folks will be along any minute to criticize Michael Reagan for(*gasp*)...comparing Rick Perry to Ronald Reagan.
I know. Think it might be something in the water?
He had EIGHT felony convictions in Arkansas, and was extremely violent. And Huck was an IDIOT for reducing his sentence with the SOLE purpose of letting him get paroled.
“2012 GOP presidential candidates may find tea pot too hot to handle”
http://redstatezombie.blogspot.com/2010/10/2012-gop-presidential-candidates-may.html
I saw him speak last week where he said Sarah had the passion in her speech and character to become president, not a damn word about the Huckster. Wonder who wrote him a check?
Hell yes. that RINO, finger in the wind, force your kid to get STD vaccine, wannabe dictator, illegal alien coddler isn’t fit to shine Reagan’s shoes.
‘Polarizing’ has nothing to do with the issues. Reagan was pro-life, pro-everything conservative and he was able to win almost every state in the country (he probably gave up Minnesota in order to be gracious to Mondale). Maine now has a pro-life governor.
The problem is when candidates say and do stupid things that have nothing, absolutely nothing to do with conservative values and principles. Sometimes they are angry and erratic bombthrowers. Others just don’t know what they are talking about. People need to be able to have confidence in their leaders.
Michael Reagan is absolutely wrong about Palin, and so are you.
She is our best hope for 2012, not our worst fear, as you suggest. There isn't another potential Republican candidate for 2012 who can match her qualifications and personal attributes.
The fact that you called her a "celebrity" tells me that you've succumbed to the left-wing/RINO propaganda about her. It's obviously coloring your analysis of her.
As to the candidates she endorsed in 2010, the majority of them won their races, yet you choose to highlight three who didn't win. Sarah didn't run their campaigns, or script their speeches. How can you suggest that she's somehow responsible for their losses? Where's your indictment or analysis of their respective campaigns?
You're selling her short, and very much underestimating her. She's of a caliber of public servant that this nation hasn't seen in generations. Hopefully, in time, you'll see that.
I thought the same thing. The son has obviously lost his bearings.
ANY “conservative” candidate that gets caught up in God, guns and gays is gonna lose every national election.
A Tea Party candidate running against DC Fascism will win.
Yeah, that GG&Gs really hurt old Reagan.
Last night, Mark Levin read some excerpts from a CPAC speech that Reagan gave. I just happened to be trapped in my evening commute, and was able to really listen to every word. His words were sheer brilliance, and so prescient that they sent chills up my spine.
In my opinion, Sarah is getting there. I'll be the first to admit that she's got a long way to go to match the Gipper, but she's got the same compass, and is on the same course as he was.
If Michael Reagan spoke that highly of Sarah Palin just last week, and today he's talking like this, then it's either serious mental issues (read: drugs), or yep, someone got to him.
It doesn’t matter, If Palin runs, she wins the nomination.
