The Russians are planning to sell S-300’s and other hardware to Turkey now as well... And possibly invite Turkey to observe in CSTO operations.

After eating the mixed Chinese/Turkish field ration, you are hungry two hours later and your bunghole is awfully sore.

The next 2 years are the most dangerous since the Cuban missle crisis. Obama will be at his weakest. Our enemies saw America’s weakness in a similar situation under Carter. We have not been weaker economically since the Great Depression and today have more serious international competitors. Our military is spread thin. We have never been more divided as a people. I will not be surprised by a Chinese invasion of Taiwan coordinated with a North Korean invasion of the South Korea. Or by Turkey leaving NATO to simultaneously lead militant Muslim nations like Syria and Iran in an independent joint attack on Israel.

A newly united Russian Federation or Soviet Union (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and a few other ‘stans) may decide to take Eastern Europe back while promising Western Europe that they will not attack them as long as they stay out of the war.

No need to threaten them with military action. Western Europe gets all of its heating oil from Russia these days. A revived Soviet Union could just freeze them out anytime they choose.
