Forty-five of the nation’s wealthiest taxpayers, dubbing themselves “Patriotic Millionaires for Fiscal Strength,” are asking President Barack Obama to let tax breaks expire for those making more than $1 million.

“We have done very well over the last several years,” reads their letter, posted on their website. “Now, during our nation’s moment of need, we are eager to do our fair share. We don’t need more tax cuts, and we understand that cutting our taxes will increase the deficit and the debt burden carried by other taxpayers. The country needs to meet its financial obligations in a just and responsible way.

“Letting tax cuts for incomes over $1,000,000 expire, is an important step in that direction.”

If they want to pay more in taxes they could do so w/o it being law.

They have enough to pay someone to hide it from the IRS for them.

"The country needs to meet its financial obligations in a just and responsible way."

Agreed!

Just: a flat tax where EVERYBODY pays into the system

Responsible: cut spending before raising anybody's taxes

They already made theirs.

You don't get charged income tax on your assets.

They want to punish the people who are actually still trying to get where they are by working and generating income.

Selfish, self-serving bastards.

we are eager to do our fair share.

BS. They're wealthy enough to exploit every tax loophole/shelter. ...of which there are plenty.

To quote Pelosi, it sounds like Astroturf. Anyone want to bet these are all Democrat millionaires who benefit from the government?

So what, exactly, is stopping them from turning in 50% of their gross assets each and every year?

From what I’ve been hearing, many more of the ultra wealthy have been moving their money offshore since the Jackass in the White House was elected.

Don’t worry their cash is safely tucked away where Bammy can’t get his grubby Marxist hands on it.

We should thank the state for allowing us to keep the wealth that it doesn’t take from us.

during our nation’s moment of need, we are eager to do our fair share.

So write a check to the treasury and leave the rest of us alone.

Was Charlie Rangel one of the signers? He’s very much in favor of increased taxes, since he doesn’t pay them.

The current loopholes do not benefit them. The status quo does.

If these 45 ***holes were really “patriotic”, they’d send every penny they have to the U.S. Treasury. These maggots need to shut up and put their money where their big mouths are.

So, why don't they donate their assets to Obama if they so want to help him?

Now, during our nation’s moment of need, we are eager to do our fair share.

No one is stopping you from doing what you think is your fair share, but you don't have to force your irrational views on others who don't want to have their wealth expropriated.
