Invasion of privacy - The TSA search policy is unwarranted, unjust, and humiliating
Boston Globe ^ | Nov. 19, 2010 | Tom Keane

THREE MINUTES at Logan Airport ruined my day. s I arrived at the airport Monday for a flight to Detroit. I went through the security drill — shoes, belt, and coat off, laptop out, liquids in a baggie, pockets empty — but instead of the customary path through the metal detector, a Transportation Security Administration employee shunted me off to a new machine. It was one I had heard of but never passed through — a whole body imaging machine, the virtual strip search. I obediently positioned my feet where told, raised my hands as instructed and then, in a moment of sudden rebellion, objected.

“You want to opt out?’’ a guard asked.

“I don’t want to go through that,’’ I said.

From several TSA employees came cries of “Opt out!’’ “Male opt out!’’ I was pulled over to the side and told I would be searched.

The TSA has just recently implemented what it euphemistically calls an “enhanced patdown.’’ The agent firmly ran his hands over my entire body, head to toe, front and back. He rubbed his hands over my buttocks and in between. He put his hands in my pants and ran them all around my waist. From behind, he ran his hands along my legs, all the way up my thigh as high as he could go and onto my genitals.

Then he moved in front of me and then did the same thing again. Remember the question once asked of candidate Bill Clinton: “Boxers or briefs?’’ My TSA examiner knows.

Keane sums it all up in his sentence,

“9/11 has made us a frightened and cowed people. “

The TSA was created out of fear and panic, not sane rationality - which should be the basis of all bureaucracy and government creations.

I don’t know how long it will take us to get to sane rationality on airport security.

If more people had been in the military there wouldn’t be all this fuss.

One which crawls to the master who beats us, whines, and licks their hands.

From the article: “Of course, instead of playing the rebel, I could have acquiesced, allowing the digital strip search to proceed.”

PLAYING THE REBEL?????????? You DID acquiesce! You submitted to the patdown. The question is why.

Why?

Baaaaaaaaaaaaaa........

Everyone is missing the obvious solution to this. Drive. Nobody has to fly anywhere. Put the airline business out of its misery once and for all.

i think people are also glazing over the fact that these ‘policies’ are a direct result of 0bama and the dems losing the mid terms.

This is a result of national cowardice, and lying. Until Americans can say to our masters, deal with the source of terrorism, and leave the rest of us alone, the many will suffer for he few. The rational that avoiding discrimination against Muslims means trampling the rights and dignity of everyone will make this government push out the envelope of tyranny. At some point we have to say no, and push big, corrupt government back. That point should have come long before now, and the longer we put it off, the more impossible it will become to stem the fascist tide. The government isn’t going to rollover on this this, so it will be interesting to see what Americans will do.

>>I don’t know how long it will take us to get to sane rationality on airport security.<<

It had better be quick, because we have a government whose sole purpose in life seems to be total control - i.e., slavery - of its citizens. Accept this - or worse, refuse to travel - is a victory for them and a loss of our freedoms.

The government KNOWS that such searches are unconstitutional; they rely on the complacency and compliance of obedient citizens. I am too old to give a damn if I am killed in defense of liberty and too damn stubborn to bow down tbefore any false tyrant, no matter how powerful. But I’ll be damned if I go silently.

Gloria Allred was on Hsnnity’s show on Friday night defending the TSA policies. Can anyone tell me what passes for brains in her cranial cavity? She liked the procedures because they touched parts of her body that hadn’t been touched in a long time.

BTW, imagine the uproar if Bush had implemented these policies.

I REFUSE.

Much more than simple profiling is needed. Expulsion and war are the only way to deal with this stuff. I don’t care about fliers, I’m not one. But this stuff is going to creep into everything sooner or later.

“Opt out Wednesday” might just be a small event. But the US citizens need to stand up to this fascism from Obama. We need to do what Gays do, massive protests and demonstrations outside of airports. Shut the airports down completely. Block all traffic, customer and employees, from getting in or out of the airport. the WH needs to understand, we will not be trampled on anymore

Normally JimRob would pull it but I think its the cartoon that graphically illustrates what we’re gonna lose - our bodily privacy as well as our freedom to say “no.”
