Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) denounced the Bush family as "blue bloods" in an interview posted Wednesday and remarked that a mentality like theirs helped to cause the economic downturn.
Her comment came in response to a statement made by former first lady Barbara Bush during an interview with CNN's Larry King earlier this week. Asked for her take on Palin, Bush told King: "I think she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there."
Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham followed up with Palin, asking if she thought Bush's comment had been planned ahead of time. Palin had this to say:

She may as well have told SP to stay home and bake cookies. Ridiculously condescending remark and one that needed to be responded to. In the larger context SP was saying that she will not sit by while the establishment pushes Mitt Romney down the Republican's throats...
I lived for 40 years in California, then for 13 years in Virginia, and in both of those geographic locations that particular phrasing would be taken as a sarcastic insult. That counts as a "pot shot" in my book.
Perhaps you are from a part of the country where that is some sort of neutral phrase or maybe even a compliment. If so, that would account for our difference of opinion.
Thank you, Sarah!! I’m so sick and tired of being told to “play nice” and just shut up about the GOP elite. I don’t want those like Barbra Bush to think they get a pass on nastiness and cattiness “just because”....new rules, Blue Bloods....smash mouth rules....get used to it.
This kind of unseemly elitism should be condemned straight away.
That’s exactly what the first Obamabot said in the comments section of the posted article. Was that you?
The problem is that Palin’s remark won’t be reported in context and it’s getting to be time that Palin understands that.
When she says a sentence with “Blue Bloods” in it, she ought to know that all that is going to make it into the soundbites, headlines, radio teasers is the two words “Blue Bloods.” And all those two words convey is a play into class warfare.
Palin simply needed to explain why she feels she can contribute to national politics. That is all.
You just described 90% of the Republicans in Washington. A bunch of linguine spined cowards. Give them blue bloods both barrels Sarah.
This is a major insult, if you don't see it, then you need help.
The Sarah Palin double standard is on full display in this thread, as her every word, nuance of phrase and timing is analyzed like no one else, since the last big enemies of the Commies, Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon.
A lot of Monday morning quarterbacking going on here regarding what Governor Palin SHOULD have said.
Considering she is responding in real time, under the glare of a largely unfriendly spotlight, I’d say she is purring along just fine.
The ongoing angst of her enemies speaks volumes about her devastating effectiveness.
The fact that GWB never defended himself did not bother me a whit. It was his failure to defend conservative values and the conservative movement which incensed me and without the advent of the Tea Party Movement his pointed refusal to defend those values was well on the road to destroying the republican party. As Americans have parted with the Roosevelt Dynasty and now the Kennedy clan let us say goodbye to the Bushes.
I don’t mind some of her comments, but ending her comments with “that’s the way they roll”.... This women is not ready to be serious. Who talks like that, as a grown adult women. “That’s the way they roll”....God help us.
Your analysis is very wise.
As I posted upthread, Palin could have even said, “Oh, I’d LOVE to stay in Alaska, but if my country calls me to service elsewhere, I’m there.”
You hit the nail on the head. This is precisely why Sarah Palin and all conservatives need to speak out. Tell the blue blooded elites to keep their mouths shut every time they try to exercise their delusions of royalty.
In 2008, the conservatives (like Rush Limbaugh) shut their mouths not wanting to influence the election. Because they decided not to say one is conservative and the others are big fat libs, we wound up with nothing but RINOs left in the race.
I’d trust Sarah Palin’s instincts more than the instincts of all of her detractors here on this site. She’s absolutely right and every one who is a conservative needs to open their mouths and say so, not criticize her for telling the truth. She’s been doing things so called conservatives have been too gutless to do for a long time. Maybe if half of them stepped up to the plate for once, she would not have to do it.
The shoe fits.
Would you have ended your comments, with “That’s the way they roll” as Sarah did?? What grown adult talks like this? Is she trying to be ‘cool’? Is this the serious type intellect we want leading our Nation. No. Sarah is someone who belongs on TV, she has energy but she is no where near ready to be POTUS/CinC.
How I interpret this...We are hear, we will fix the mess you made...
We are also not going away you North East Liberal RINO Establishment...
The same folks that Torpedo'd, Angel and O'Donnell at every turn and probably Miller too Boot...
We have had enough of you and we ain't going away, we will turn you beloved RNC into the party of Reagan again, or you will go the way of the WIGS.
We cost you dearly by not giving, you are 15 million in the hole and you had no ground game on 11/2 because you were broke and dysfunctional.
Have you heard us now?
“Oh, yeah, lets make it all about socioeconomic status, not ideas. /s”
Her comment, more accurately, was about the Establishment versus Conservtives.
A strong argument can be made that there is the strongest policy relationship between being an Establishment Rep. and a Conservative Republican.
My former Commander who is a Colonel and older than SP.
Thanks....wow....PDS is a lot stronger around here than I realized. Their fear of Sarah is irrational. Bless their hearts....
