You are absolutely right. The name of the photog should be readily available. S/he should be made an example of ... his name should become like the infamous NYT reporter “Clymer” in the public forum (unfortunately, one of the Signers of the Declaration was named ‘Clymer”)
I learned when my son was in Iraq, in battle, in the spring of 2004, that AP lies through their teeth. I would be information from my son and hit the editors with “what the hell” and soon they were unreachable.
The photographer attributed is ‘Dieu Nalio Chery’ on the Huffpost article. This does not meant the same person wrote the caption. However, I do believe the photographer would have submitted some kind of narrative with the snapshots they took.
