About 50 religious leaders and activists, including some from north Baltimore, rallied Dec. 11 near Clyde's Sport Shop in Baltimore County but were vastly outnumbered by more than 200 of the gun shop's supporters, who partied in its parking lot.
Members of Heeding God's Call in Maryland decided to rally after brothers Clyde and Bill Blamberg, owners of the sport shop, declined to sign a 10-point "code of conduct" that the activists say will reduce gun violence in Baltimore.
The group carried signs that said "Sign the code" and "How long, oh Lord?" and sang songs as they gathered in a grassy field about 200 yards away from the shop, which is located at 2307 Hammonds Ferry Road, in Lansdowne.
"We just want to be a witness to the support for the code of conduct and encourage Clyde to sign it," said the Rev. Tom Harris, pastor of Govans Presbyterian Church. "We want to remind him that real lives are at stake with every gun that he sells and just to be more careful, be more responsible.
"We do want him to go above and beyond the law. We know these things are more than the law calls for, but that's what's needed. Young people are dying every day."

Why don’t those religious leaders rally against, y’know, criminals ?
America! It's about
I think low IQ must prevent them from figuring out who the bad guys are.
Next stop. The grocery store to prevent obesity.
Blame the gun or the gun store for the violence in your community instead of looking for the real source of the problem. That’s what it’s all about.
I’m assuming they gathered outside Clyde’s Sport Shop after they protested at the local abortion mill?
These idiot activists just gave Clyde some free advertising.
Bought my first shotgun from Clyde’s and go in there every couple months. Heard about this rally a couple weeks ago while at the range. Would have been there, in support of Clyde’s if not for a prior commitment.
I can remember a time when preachers were more concerned about saving souls instead of wearing out soles protesting a business selling legal products.
I saw a similar story on the local news a few days ago. Same concept, different city (I believe it was New Haven CT).
'Cause if these 'religious leaders' make a law-abiding citizen mad, they get publicity, and maybe a chance to win the lawsuit-lottery.
If they make a criminal mad, they might get their a$$ kicked.
Criminals are, uh, criminals, y'know.
I’m gonna bet ten bucks these “religious leaders” are preaching liberation theology. Anybody wanna bet against me?!? Didn’t think so.
Why don’t those ministers start doing door to door evangelism in their own neighborhoods to get people saved and stop doing the crimes.
Because it is so much more media worthy to stand in front of camera and harangue a law abiding citizen then to get their precious hands dirty where the “sinners” actually are.
They should have held a candle light vigil — proven to be 14% more effective than demonstrating. It would also have the advantage of being able to hold it indoors.
Now,Now, Criminals have every right to practice their chosen profession. The very idea that common citizens should be allowed to interfere with the economic activities of an entire class of people based solely on their freely chosen profession, is ludicrous. It might even be Racist.
The real source of crime is the
promotion of a DEGENERATE CULTURE
in their “communities”.
Speak out against “baby daddies”, welfare queens, gov’t dependency, financial irresponsibility, anti-educational and anti-achievement mentality.
Then get back to us.
Amen to that.
I was actually at Clydes for a short time that day - he had a customer appreciation day. Fox 45 actually came in the store and did an interview. (I’m unsure of whether that actually appeared on the news).
While I was there a black woman was preaching about how her son had been killed and lamenting about how nobody could ever give her another son; all she had left were memories...I couldn’t help but wonder what her son was doing when he was shot (I’m very cynical about such stories).
That's what it's really about. The purpose of gun control is victim disarmament for the purpose of reducing risk to the inner-city thugs whose moms and sisters are the main constituents of these "ministers".
