Rand Paul: Tea Party Candidate or Leftist Machine Darling?
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | Lisa Graas

Kentucky, birthplace of both Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis, has selected Rand Paul to be her next United States Senator. Certainly, if Lincoln and Davis were alive today, Lincoln’s choice would have been either of the decidedly conservative, pro-14th amendment candidates Trey Grayson or Bill Johnson, while Davis would have chosen Paul, the “states rights” candidate whose supporters often refer to Lincoln as a “war criminal” and share attitudes consistent with the racism of the Left. Ron Paul supporter Jack Hunter characterizes Rand as “Senator Tea Party“. The Leftist TIME Magazine says Paul is “the movement’s flag bearer in Kentucky“. Today at The Guardian, we hear that Paul is truly a friend of the Left by none other than Michael Tracey, symbol of the Death of Manliness, bosom buddy of pro-pedophile Alex Knepper and apologist for same. Virtually nowhere outside Kentucky is it disputed that Rand Paul was “the Tea Party candidate”, but how could a Tea Party candidate be such a looney leftist, garnering even the love of the likes of schoolgirl Michael Tracey? The answer is that Rand Paul never really was the Tea Party candidate at all but was pushed to power in large part by an out-of-state Leftist machine very much appreciated by Tracey, et al.

Tracey notes that Rand Paul is a “maverick in the making” who will prove to be an “unexpected ally” of “the Left“.

Those on the left who reflexively conflate the Paul brand of libertarianism – embodied most robustly by his father Ron – with the aims of cynical theocrats like Sarah Palin or Jim DeMint not only abdicate any pretence of intellectual responsibility; they deprive themselves of a powerful ally.

Thanks for the heads up on the new Left-wing strategy. It seems now to have shifted to, if not able to defeat a yea party candidate them lets try to make make them into a Dan Masse, Debra Medina, Sharon Angel type and marginalize them. Make them out to be kooky or out of touch or try to paint them as leftist. And Isee their plan is to get the RNC to fall for it and to trick tea partiers as well. It won’t work. But thanks for look into how the left will try to marginalize the candidates this coming year.

I very much doubt that David Horowitz lacks political culture to the extent of believing that Rand Paul is a “leftist”.
A bit of quality control is in order at NRB.

That is simply not an accurate depiction of Trey Grayson. You post a video of an obvious gaffe during Trey Grayson’s first public stump speech ever in a very hostile and nerve racking environment for him as though it were truly reflective of his views. That’s not exactly honest of you if you were aware of that. And then you post that Grayson was a Democrat and supported Bill Clinton as a college kid as though that’s reflective of his current views as a grown adult. He was a Republican long before he ever ran for public office. Unless you weren’t aware of Grayson’s age, that wasn’t exactly honest of you either.

It’s amazing you tell someone to “let it go” when you can’t even get your facts straight - obviously you aren’t willing to let go of smearing Trey Grayson with baseless attacks. Most politicians pull tricks, are crafty, etc. Rand Paul was way beyond that during the campaign. 180 degree turns on a host of issues to reinvent himself as a conservative, fake documents scandal with Kentucky Right to Life, hiring an anti-Christian bigot as his spokesman only getting rid of him after it was exposed by blogs, did not fire campaign manager after he literally bullied a sweet old lady, claimed he was never invited to GOP dinners he was in fact invited to so he could play the “establishment out to get me” narrative regardless of whether it was true, repeated appearances on the Alex Jones show (top leader of the “9/11 truth” movement), appearance on the radical left-wing Anti-War Radio pledging to align with liberals to cut the military (then later claimed it was a “lie” for Trey Grayson to say that was his view, same pattern as on other issues like Gitmo, Guantanomo, etc.), pulled items off of his own website after they were discovered and then denied they were ever there once deleted, strong supporter of Adam Kokesh and joint campaign appearances with him, etc, etc. Could go on and on there’s so much material.

Rand Paul supporters even made videos and posted them on YouTube smearing his wife. They didn’t just want Rand Paul to win, they wanted Trey Grayson and his family’s reputation to be completely destroyed with baseless lies outrageous personal attacks for no other reason than he was on the ballot running against Rand Paul. You may not have been one of that crowd but many of them were and they are toxic to any sort of public discourse - it’s the same mob mentality that was the base of Obama’s support. If you still like and want to support Rand Paul, knock yourself out - but don’t act like those who have concerns about him have no reason to be suspicious - and do it without smearing Trey Grayson with nonsense. Alright? Thanks. But for your post I wouldn’t have refought that same battle myself. It is time to move on, but smearing Trey Grayson all over again isn’t something I’ll be silent on if someone wants to pick that fight by reairing the attacks.
