Breaking : Feds want reporting for high-powered rifle sales (emergency request)

Posted on 12/20/2010 11:19:52 AM PST by Scythian

It's on the AP wire ...

Anything higher than a .22 is considered a high power rifle in this request

This sort of thing is NOT going to stop until the Kenyan is out of the WH and RATS no longer control either chamber of the Congress. That goes for RINOS also - we are coming for you.

New, stylish campaign touring car for American politicians.

If ya paint it black, puts some flags on the fenders....

:o

Actually, this is probably a good idea to keep them safe and secure and avoid incidents...Like the King or was the prince in the UK recently when the peasants rushed the royal vehicle?

My FRiend, 2 years seems like an eternity to me.

In 2007, a total of 2,423,712 resident deaths were registered in the United States. So, using those now dated figures, over 5,000,000 Americans will be dead by the time that traitor is out of office.

LOL..... My wife is an optimist like you... I am the proverbial pessimist on this issue. ;>)

This must be so they can monitor which ranchers are buying rifles.... because after all, I don’t know of many criminals that buy guns through legal channels.

Thanks for the information. Based on your link, it seems that the ATF is really lazy in that it's looking for the dealers to "flag" for them arbitrary criteria. (that can be amended/modified/expanded/etc.)

In any case, I can't imagine any legitimate dealer NOT reporting "suspicious" buying on their own volition.

I mean really...some clown comes in and asks, "What do you think this will do to someone at 10 feet?" Or, Mo and Achmed come in with $25,000 in cash and want to purchase 3 top-end AR's with Gen III night-vision optics and suppressors, but don't want anything to do with a Form 4. I'm sure every day hundreds of people are discouraged, or turned away completely for much less "subtle" signs something's amiss pre-purchase.

I'd also bet, that many are later visited by LEOs following up their hinky behavior reported by the shop. This extra reporting step is nonsense and has no real root in any kind of crime prevention. My 2¢

What's the nomenclature for an 8 pound keg of IMR 4350?

How long before a Dillon progressive reloader becomes a destructive device requiring a tax stamp?

Any law keeping a person from buying one gun a day for a week or two? Would those be recorded?

Did they define the border as international? If not, hell, it could be a state border, city border, community border...

Oh yes. And if more than two gun owners get together for any reason, then you’re running in a gang.

It reminds me of what my retired-cop cousin once told me: If you hang by yourself in jail, you’re anti-social. If you hang with one other guy, you’re homosexual. If you hang with two or more guys, you’re running in a gang. There’s always a way to negatively label people.

I think in this situation, the Nazis would fly in from Antarctica in their gravity defying flying saucers and off both Obama and the Mexicans flooding across the border. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't use high-powered rifles. They probably have some kind of self-replenishing death ray.

“The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has asked the White House budget office to approve an emergency request requiring border-area gun dealers to report the sales of two or more rifles to the same customer within a five-day period.”

And just WHAT are they going to do with the information? Open an investigation on EVERYONE who purchases 2 rifles within 5 days? For NOT breaking the law?
