Collapse - Republican opposition to New START is collapsing
National Review Online - The Corner ^ | 12/21/10 | Rich Lowry

Posted on 12/21/2010 7:54:11 AM PST by Fury

Republican opposition to New START is collapsing. One Senate source just told me the vote for ratification could go as high as 75. Another said, “I don’t know if it will get that high, but it’s starting to tick up there.” As the sense builds that ratification is inevitable, Republicans are lining up to get on the “right side.” Lamar Alexander’s support, noted below, is a crucial sign of which way the wind is blowing, although he’ll probably be the only member of the Republican leadership to vote for it. At least Jon Kyl was able to get more money for modernization and that letter from President Obama making assurances on missile defense. Otherwise, this is a dismaying rout.

I didn’t do enough...

Well, that’s better than knowing you fought for all that will bring us down. Sadly, they aren’t the only ones who will pay.

Johnny Isakson has no backbone. One would think that being the ugliest man in Georgia would have been character building or something but he is turning into the worst of everything: an ugly inside-the-beltway trendy-set zip-wad.

Thank you, I felt pretty sure of his position, but didn’t have a quote to go by.

It’s not a question of learning, but accepting.

Princess Lisa said that is just mean. After all, if Obama succeeds, then we all succeed (so sayeth Princess Lisa).

Princess Lisa has a lot to answer for but she didn't have a vote in passing, if it is passed, the START Treaty.

That and killing the Omnibus-—for now.

I thought Harry dropped it very suddenly. He had a deal and was happy with it.

Omnibus will be back, count on it.

I am speaking to her stated position that helping Obama succeed is her objective.

“Republican opposition to New START is collapsing.”

Substitute anything for New START.

I understand. Just as I hit the post button and as it disappeared, I said to myself,”Poor choice of words.”

I voted for Bush in 2000 with the expectation that he would prosecute the criminals in the Clinton regime. I voted for Martinez and again was disappointed. Voted for Christ, again, got screwed.

Now I expect nothing from them but getting screwed and that usually what happens.

“The president has committed to an $85 billion, ten-year plan to make sure these weapons work.

And what are they prepared to do when he reneges on this? He can’t wait to stick it to the pubs for doing so well in Nove.

There will be a Rat Cocktail Party every day of next year. Not a valid reason to pass START this year.

We need to pass it in order to know what's in it.

Treaties should always be passed in haste. /sarc

So in one year the “STAR WARS” weapons went from never going to work to they will save Europe. hmmm

Have you ever noticed how a politicians stated position of yesterday or today turns out to be some what at odds with the same politician’s stated position of tomorrow?

I doubt McConnell even cares. He appears to me to just be going through the motions.
