(Vanity) Anyone having problems with their Yahoo email account?

Posted on 12/28/2010 12:12:57 PM PST by Red in Blue PA

Off and on for the past week or so, when I click on an email in my Yahoo account to open it up, another email of mine opens up (not the one I clicked on!) If I go back and try again to open the same email the same wrong email is opened!

The only thing which seems to "fix" it (for lack of a better word) is to log out and log back in. But that is not truly a fix.

This is a major bug and I am curious who else is experiencing it? I am also concerned that this may go beyond simply opening another email of mine to where I may get access to someone else's email (or vice versa).

“The part that irks me is that they (Yahoo) most likely know of this issue, but will not let users know because it puts them in a bad light.”

The good news is, even though I’ve seen the problem you describe, I always recover when I close the page and log in again.

I’ve also seen lots of “Ooops you found an error, try again in a few minutes.”

Yahoo has cut staff, they’re dying.

OK, from what I can see, it was a temporary glitch; everything is all right now.

Somebody named Kos is REALLY ticked off at you, and somebody named Rahm wants his old job back.

Well, for starters, Yahoo email really stinks. It’s ok to use for a temp email to sign up for things when you don’t want spam on your regular email address, but other than that, ick!
AOL is better than Yahoo even for extra or temp email accounts. For permanent, try Hushmail. I love it.

Permanent???? You believe that hushmail will be around in 20 years?

I will probably make gmail my new home.....Google isn't going away anytime soon.

I agree, I find little Markie boy rather creepy.
Not quite ready yet to allow him to take over my personal info.

I will say tho that a huge % of folks in the 12-25 age bracket are obsessed with it.

No, but I'm having some problems with my long-distance company.

(Do people still have those?)

Who cares how long it’s around? I like to change my email address every other year, at least. Gmail? LOL go for it. I don’t want Google anything but I’m sure Google is thrilled to be able to read all of your emails. Apparently you missed the threads here on FR regarding Google and how they scan headers and contents of emails.

Time to move on, Yahoo is not doing well. Gmail is great but takes a little getting used to.

I have not had this problem with Yahoo mail.

I had a different problem, where I kept receiving phishing emails. Since the company hosting the account that was the target of the phishing wanted to know about all phishing attempts, I tried to forward the phishing email to their phishing investigation department. Yahoo would not let me forward some of the scam emails, on the basis that they appeared to be spam.

Other than that, Yahoo works fine.

All forwarded emails that have pictures in them are jacked up. The recipients can’t see the photos; email is blank except for text.

I have been having that problem with my Yahoo e-mail but not the problem the OP described.

Your browser application, Internet Explorer or Firefox, probably has, under tools, an option to clear the history and temp files. Do that, close and restart the browser. Also, be sure your software firewall is enabled and your virus software is running and doing updates of itself.

As long as you do this, your computer should be immune to virus or bots that can slow down the PC. If your PC is connected to the Internet via wi-fi, you may want to check your wi-fi modem settings and move the frequency channel up from 1 or 2 up to 5 or 6 as the lower channels get crowded by wi-fi next door or down the street and there is usually less traffic on the higher channels. If too many modems are running on a shared channel, they tend to slow down to accommodate traffic.

The problem only occurs if you’re using internet Explorer.

Use FireFox and the problem disappears...
