“Repeal requires 290 votes in the House and 67 in the Senate. Its an absurd waste of time.”
NO, IT DOES NOT...
A simple majority will pass this in BOTH houses. It is a seperate act, not a veto over-ride.
You are kidding, right....? This puts members up for election in some uncomfortable, possibly election losing positions.
Two pages! That’s what I’m talkin’ about!
The death commission was in the Stimulus Bill. Also, what bill was collecting our medical records in. I want it ALL repealed.
The battle the next two years is not about getting Obama to sign repeals as much as it is to frame things for the voters for 2012. A way to measure success is how many Democrats jump ship (under pressure) to repeal Obama-care over the next two years. That will show us if a successful PR campaign has been waged. Alternatively if more and more Republicans switch sides we know we are in trouble.
Though this bill has no chance of moving beyond the House, it is sending a VERY CLEAR message to Obama and the Democrats. Two pages, can they say they don’t have time to read THAT?
We have more time than money.
FIVE references to “JOB-KILLING.”
Ouch.
If this is true, pity the fool who adds an earmark.
It is such a good idea, that it should be re-introduced
each month.
Force the undocumented pRes_ _ent Imam to Veto it.
Each and every month.
Also all those vulnerable dems in the Senate that are up for re-election in 2012!!!
“Repeal requires 290 votes in the House and 67 in the Senate.”
This absurd.
Every enactment of Congress is a repeal of some other code section and then a re-enactment of the section with the amended language. Where is your authority?
Article I, section 7: "Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States;[2] If he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the Objections at large on their Journal, and proceed to reconsider it. If after such Reconsideration two thirds of that House shall agree to pass the Bill, it shall be sent, together with the Objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a Law."
Do you think four Democrats in the Senate will vote to repeal this law?
And, if they do (and if all Republicans do, too), do you imagine Obama will sign the repeal bill?
Didn’t Reid get it put into the Healthcare Bill that it would requrie 2/3rd vote of the Senate and House to alter or repeal the law?
Althogh I agree whole heartly in the bill, where is the promised Constitutional authority promised by the new leadership in the bill?
EXACTLY!! Eventually we will get a SANE president who will allow it to be repealed (and we’ll finish the job we started this year with the House.) In the mean time, defund, defund, defund will be the mantra!!! This thing can die by judiciary review, by law or by simply not being funded. As long as it dies!!
Yay! Best post of 2011!
