According to reports in the last 20 years in Russia, 2,000,000 ethnic Muslims people have left Islam since the fall of the Soviet Union in 1990s. In the same period it is believe only 2,000 to 5,000 ethnic Russians converted to Islam.
While various Muslim sources claim that Islam is the fastest growing religion in Russia and that ethnic Russians are converting to Islam in large numbers, Roman Silantyev, the executive secretary of the Interreligious Council of Russia denounces this as a myth.
Silantyev states that in recent years more than two million people from various ethnic Muslim backgrounds including Tatar, Azeri, Ingush, Kazakh, etc. have converted from Islam to Orthodox Christianity in Russia, while the number of ethnic Russians who have converted to Islam is between two thousand and five thousand.
Praise GOD... I believe them... muslims lie... it is what they do.

Maybe 70 years of state imposed atheism was at least useful to break the spell of Islam on those who had it as part of their inherited culture.
I would like to think there are multitudes of disaffected Muslims who have seen what the Muslim extremists in their midst have caused and are doing in the name of their religion.
If this story is true, there is hope for mankind and civilization.
Christianity is a lot more benevolent and peaceful religion and faith than Islam. Frankly, I would like to see a lot more conversions of Muslims to Christianity and then live according to its values and principles.
Did the communists really seriously tangle with Islam, or simply wink and nod it off as long as the favor was reciprocated?
I’d think the appearance of a viable alternative to their religion had a lot to do with it. Islamic society, unless propped up by Western wealth (i.e. oil) stinks in quality of life compared to Christian society.
Great if Jesus can redeem these pagans. What can be dumber than squandering your life on a false murderous prophet and a fake gawd?

I do not believe one word of this. No way. It's in the Koran. Lie to the infidel. Taqiyah. Once a Muslim always a Muslim. There's no converting. It's a calculated lie and a means of infiltrating Christianity.

Maybe you misunderstood the article. Muslims are leaving Islam and going Orthodox, not the other way around.

Some people appear to think Islam is genetic. If this is true, and one agrees Islam is as evil as they also generally claim, it would mean eventually a “Final Solution to the Muslim problem” will be required.
IMO, Islam is no more genetic than any other cultural trait or religion. It is also not nearly as inherently violent as some claim. There have been long periods when Islam was not a huge problem. We are admittedly going through a bad period right now.
Because we had people fighting it. Nobody has the stomach anymore to fight it.
Militant Islam was little problem for most of the 19th and 20th centuries. There were exceptions, such as the Sudan, but they were exceptions.
Even the Palestinian terrorists of the later 20th were originally primarily nationalists, not Islamists. Some of their original leaders were Christians and nobody seemed to care that much. As were some of the original Baath party leaders in Iraq, Syria and elsewhere.
You are quite correct that most of the problem has arisen due to our own failure to confront and contain them. Which is largely due to our own loss of civilizational self-confidence. TR certainly would have had no problem dealing with belligerent Muslims.
Islam was attacking other countries even during our history. The pirates in Libya were part of the Islamic Caliphate and were conducting their piracy under auspices of a Fatwa. Wahab was preaching against the US and the West on the Arabian Peninsula. It is not genetic but it is long term.
