Spot on. And I guarantee, some sort of gun control or Homeland Security (net monitoring, wiretapping) bill will be introduced on on 1-18-2011. It will pass with a unanimous Democrat vote and at least 75% of Republicans.
They’ll get a week paid vacation.I hope they can get over their trauma by then, or maybe they should make it two weeks.

The left has left politics a long time ago and has engaged in systematic gang like self activation and warfare against the US of A. In fact, the attempter of the murder on Gifford was in a self activating mode, albeit disorganized and “ill expressed”.

I agree with you. I saw this coming immediately from the news yesterday. The left was spouting statements to the effect that we cannot continue feeding anger, yada yada yada.
I knew they would try to use this to get the new Congress to be less aggressive in their attacks on the administrations agenda. This is bad. Just as we gain some power the left will now use this to get us to “cross the aisle” and “compromise”. Knowing the GOP it will work. God help us.
Did they stop business when you were suffering? A federal judge was killed as well. Should all trials be postponed so all judges can take time out in respect to the family?
Take some time out for yourself to think about this and not be so angry.
Wouldn't it be great if she made a statement to the nation from the hospital that congress should NOT take the week off and take care of this nation's business as usual. Do you think they would honor her wish?

It seems to me this is more about the representatives being scared witless. Shutting down for a week though? I’m not so sure of that, it seems like a long time to adjust security precautions. And that is what I believe this is more about...security precautions both in DC and at home.
How many times at events have we seen breaches in security...and thank God nothing happened other than a few shouted words or a cream pie thrown. Yesterday’s incident was truly very different.
As I listened to the radio last night, a woman asked some really good questions...wasn’t there an armed security detail there of some sort, local LEO enforcement, etc.? This guy and potential an accomplice was able to shoot off how many rounds and murder people.
To me this guy sounded really disturbed and debased from either political party. He doesn’t fit in society.
Pardon my cynicism, but this seems to be an opportunity for the lefties in Congress to return to their districts and stir things up in regards to their perceived causes of this tragedy.
And the MSM will cheerlead for them all the way.
The first thing they should do when they return is investigate the media disinformation campaign. This is dangerous. A hearing on truth in the media is called for.

I think we made a bad assumption. We thought the GOP wanted to govern. Well maybe they didn’t. Maybe the were enjoying the last four years and are doing their level best to hide from responsibility.

They have tried to shove and push this agenda of violence. From the new definitions of terrorist issued several springs ago to Pelosi and lot parading through the American protesters in DC carrying her oversized gavel, to the slanders of racism and ginned up stories, to the NYC Arab cabby that was attacked, and the nutjob outside the Discovery Channel taking hostages.
They pointed the finger at the right only to have to explain the timber was in their own eye. The inflaming rhetoric to violent action is coming from the left.
They didn’t get the reaction they wanted and at every turn...their accusations were proven false.
I have been seeing something about that.Also they blew something up at Gifford’s office.They said the container had writing on it.
