Jared Loughner, the man accused of the Tucson massacre that left six dead and injured 14 others, appeared in a packed courtroom today shackled and in khaki prison garb, appearing to smirk as he stood before the judge.
Federal officials released Loughner's mug shot, showing him smiling into the camera despite hints of a black eye. "Yes, I am Jared Lee Loughner," said Loughner, with a freshly shaved head, when the Judge Lawrence Anderson asked him to confirm his identity.

Look at his eyes..
O. M. G. ....... look at the smiling bald male in this mugshot.
What’s that Pink Floyd song from The Wall? The Trial?
“Crazy, toys in the attic he is crazy ...”
He will lose that goofy grin once he hits the Federal Pen.
Don't sue me, Harlan!
who shaved his head? why?
The comments section already has a “Palin did it” post. Loughner’s goofball expression is not the only weird thing in this story.
Hmmm. He seems to be going for the Uncle Fester look. Looks like someone got a good punch at him...unless it’s self inflicted.
Travis Bickle without the panache.
Looks like a Manson family girl.
Charles Manson passes the torch.
I can see why people have confessed that they were afraid of him. He reminds me a bit of Hannibal Lecter.
Hopefully it's to limit the stench of burning hair...
His classmates said he would laugh out loud in class for no apparent reason. Now I think I know what they were talking about...
Like I said before, he did it for his 15 minutes of fame.
The ones who say that can hold hands with this whack job shooter..they are NO different then he is
Remember, he was tackled and hit the concrete right after the shooting...
At least, that’s the story I’d be using.
