Poll: Most Americans Feel Rhetoric, Tucson Shooting Unrelated
CBS ^ | 1//11/11 | Daniel Carty

Posted on 01/11/2011 7:20:40 AM PST by redk

Nearly six in 10 Americans say the country's heated political rhetoric is not to blame for the Tucson shooting rampage that left six dead and critically wounded U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, according to a CBS News poll. In the wake of the shooting, much focus has been put on the harsh tone of politics in Washington and around the country, particularly after a contentious midterm election. Rhetoric and imagery from both Republicans and Democrats have included gun-related metaphors, but the majority of the country isn't connecting the shooting to politics.

Come on how do you get the idea that reason plays a role in coming to conclusions? Don’t you know that it is only used to support a prior conclusion?

I’m waiting for the actual picture of Sarah with the gun in her hand aiming at Gabby. Surely there is one.

In other words, CBS and the other MSM need to try harder.

The good news out of this poll is that independents found no cause for the shooting in the political climate. That means the blame game has not hurt us with the Independents.

Is there anyway we can let the MSM know that we think they are loons?

It’s despicable that it’s only 60/40.

Far too many people are loony themselves.

Beck’s opener said a lot about the symbolism crap. Mentioned Target Store symbol, can’t have that, etc. lol I assume the MSM went down a few notches with the general public the last 3-4 days. Otherwise, they’re brain dead. We have to assume that 25-30% will never change, but that’s alright. We can win a lot a elections with 70/30 numbers. .

There you go. This just shows why the government must regulate what you see and hear.<>

Fact #1. Clarence Dupnik is a Democrat.
Fact #2. John Wayne Gacy was a Democrat homosexual pedophile serial killer.
Fact #3. Jared Loughner is a homosexual dope-smoking mass murderer.

Applying the sheriff’s twisted partisan “logic,” should he update his resume to describe himself as a Democrat dope-smoking homosexual pedophile mass serial killer?

And if so, should he replace Biden on the ticket in 2012?

A left-wing liberal pot-smoking communist was the shooter. Please don't get him confused with our left-wing liberal pot-smoking communist president. Thank you.

Thank the Lord that most people are coming to their senses and rejecting this nonsense. While I am very sorry for the families of all of the victims, nutsy cuckoo is nutsy cuckoo. If we as a nation choose to think (and legislate) otherwise, we will need to ban:

Barking dogs: Son of Sam

The movie Ordinary People and the book Catcher in the Rye: Mark David Chapman

The White Album: Charlie Manson

The movie Taxi Driver: John Hinckley, Jr

Seriously, crazy people can find motivation to do harm to others in the the strangest places. I would be far more worried about the Pima county sheriff providing cover to this killer by way of his comments than anything that comes out of Rush’s or Sarah’s mouths.

TSgt. I distinctly recall a screen save of a CNN broadcast of Dick Cheney on CNN a few years back. It had his face with a scope sighting on his face. It was a big deal a few years ago here. I saved it, but my library of pics became scrambled. It was a year or so after CNN had Niger Innis on and they labeled him Ni##er Innis. Do you recall?

Pissant, Do you recall the screen save someone did a few years back of CNN doing a story on Dick Cheney where they had a scope sighting on his face for at least a few minutes then they removed it? It was huge here for a few days and now I can’t find it. CNN will deny it ever happened and I know I have it save somewhere. Thanks.

That fact is lost on so many people... IMO the left has damaged their anti-war creds no principles after Obama got elected and escalated a war that Bush would easily have won by now.

An analogy to what the left is trying to do here. Any crime commited on a person that makes over 250K per year is caused because of the hateful class warfare rhetoric of all liberals including POTUS. Any crime commited on any white person by an illegal alien is caused by the hateful rhetoric of the left charging bigotry among conservatives because of their stand on illegal immigration and one more any black on white crime commited is because of the hate filled rhetoric of the left accusing conservatives of racism, etc.

What I’d like to know, who are these people in the 40 plus percentile, who espouses it was “rightwing” rhetoric, that set this lunatic off?

I don’t know about every conservative, but, if I were to wager, I’d wager not many conservatives have some sort of gothic like shrine in their backyard.

With that in mind, I’m thinking this perp was more akin to some sort of a far left wing looney.

Already, the MSM is addressing his disadvantaged upbringing, along with the horrors of the neighborhood where he failed to thrive.

A libtard relative is sending around an especially vile and risible piece by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. in the Puffington Post.

RFK, Jr. reminiscences about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963 as an episode of “right wing hate” in Dallas without so much as mentioning that Oswald was a devoted Marxist supporter of Fidel Castro who had DEFECTED to the USSR.

Yes, RFK, Jr. actually has the nerve to try to subsume the current environment into a “right wing hate” which (supposedly) killed President John F. Kennedy.

These leftards are utterly shameless and dishonest in their posturing and posing.

Not a shred of evidence that either Dallas 1963 or Tucson 2011 had anything to do with supposed “right wing hate” but the vicious libtards will milk this for every ounce of propaganda benefit they can get. They are shameless.
