Can you believe they handed out T-shirts...Together We Thrive? Someone on Fox (Brit Hume?) called it a pep rally, too. The audience sure made it that way. Were they instructed to do that? Clapping, shouts, etc.

Brit just said this wasn’t just an audience with applause but one with shouts, whoops, whistles, etc.

Charles says it will have more of defining effect for Obama’s image than thought by Chris (or Brett?).

I guess the latest DOS attack has ended — too bad we couldn’t comment on the “anointed one’s” speech tonight. Compared to the pep rally atmosphere, it certainly sounded presidential although the Fox panel said it was twice as long as Reagan’s after the Challenger, Clinton’s after OK city, or Bush’s after 9/11. But what will make it stand out is how miraculous it was that Giffords opened her eyes just after he visited her. Obama is certainly the ONE!

It’s a miracle! The president himself was there when she opened her eyes!

Seriously? This is going to save the country a BUNDLE in healthcare costs. He's a HEALER!!

No, he was NOT there when she opened her eyes, he had stepped out and some staff members were in the room, and that is what he said.

There were about 14,000 inside the building, and another 14,000 outside I presume getting a live feed.

Sorry about the double (or triple?) post on this thread earlier tonight. It's a shame FR can no longer seem to handle the traffic whenever there's a "big" event like tonight's memorial service in Tucson, or on Election Night, etc.

Parts of The One's speech tonight were very good, I have to admit, but the "we have to restore civility" part of the speech was bordering on placing the blame on everyone except the nutcase killer. It was code from the liberals/democRATs to Republicans and conservatives: You'd better behave! The One's speech was WAY too long... he should have quit while he was ahead. He did a decent job when he was simply remembering each victim.

My husband and I were appalled at the Wellstone-like "funerally" atmosphere with all the students constantly whooping, screaming, whistling, etc. There may have been a moment or two when that MIGHT have been appropriate, but overall it was over the top. It's obvious it came from a certain segment in the crowd that were most likely Obama-worshipping college kids.

It was interesting to hear other networks (ie CNN) explain away the raucous behavior: "Tucson needed to be upbeat, after the sad events of last Saturday... they were celebrating the lives of the victims". Give me a break... all that shouting was for The One and his administration. I'm just glad there were no boos for Gov. Jan Brewer, who delivered a very classy speech.

IMO, the memorial service was much too large... it should have been held in a church or smaller, more intimate venue with just family, friends and co-workers of the victims, medical staff, and of course city and state politicians. Why on earth did they need to have all those rude screeching college kids in a huge sports arena at what should have been a somber memorial service? They treated the service like it was a "show"... ugh.

I turned the CD player off and the TV sound up for a minute. Between the hooting and cheering...man, I feel even WORSE for the families of the wounded and dead. Imagine taking time, while you are grieving, to drag yourself to this tawdry pep rally.

Exactly what my husband said. The whole thing was appalling, although admittedly there were a few nice moments.

Is it just me, or is FR moving like molasses right now?

FR completely froze up for me for most of the night, plus I got a lot of those annoying Proxy Error messages. Now it's moving slightly faster than molasses...

The DOH-bama circus continues...SEND IN THE CLOWNS!

The GHOULS that refer to themselves as democrats never miss an opportunity to turn a tragedy into a DNC telethon. I'll wager the dolts who vote for these feinds are too thick to realize how sick it is to seek a political opportunity at a memorial for the victims.

Who's bright idea was it to have T-shirts?

Will there be any french fries available for Mrs. Obama?

The concession stands were open.

No, I'm not kidding.

I’ve been trying to figure out the Fort Hood victims didn’t have a televised memorial. Why didn’t the President speak at that memorial?

They had a memorial and Obama spoke. I watched it. It was very solemn and dignified, mainly because everyone there was military and adult, not snotty high school and college punks.

Disgusting, exactly.

Obama, before his adoring fans cheering him, and he goes on about Gabby opening her eyes for the first time when he appeared in the room. The Messiah has returned.

Disgusting and disgraceful. They bury a 9 year old girl and he's having a pep rally at the event. Disgusting.

These ‘young people’ are what we will again be up against in 2012. They haven’t a clue politically of what is going on, they just know that obama is the ‘one’ and will come out in droves to vote for him. Those of you who think his light has dimmed just because of the economy are wrong. The college kids that can’t find work aren’t worried at all. Mom and Dad are taking care of them and obama will still save them. It’s a crying shame.

My Mom lost her 7 year old sister in an accident. To hear about it is still heartbreaking to this day. Her picture hangs in her house, a picture of an angel taken a few months before she passed 60 years ago.

With dignified solemn respect is the only way this little girl from heaven is remembered.

The Thugs from Chicago have gone over the top on this one. Its disgusting.

My two college girls voted for him, and they get no help now. Not because they voted for him, but because its time for a reality check. They have graduated and live in poverty. They now need to learn and remember hard times to appreciate good times when they come.

Its just unfortunate that the bad times may last 10 years after the damage Obama has done.
