The gushing and swooning from the Friends this morning lead by head Barry cheerleader Alisyn was too much to take...finally Michelle Malkin came on saying that it was like a campaign pep rally and then Steve chimed in that in his house they thought so, too.
This makes sense in the big picture. Obama turned what should have been a somber memorial service into a one man re-campain act. The choice of music suited his purposes.

Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn questioned Copland about his lecturing abroad, neglecting completely Copland's works which made a virtue of American values.[78] Outraged by the accusations, many members of the musical community held up Copland's music as a banner of his patriotism. The investigations ceased in 1955 and were closed in 1975. Though taxing of his time, energy and emotional state, Copland's career and international artistic reputation were not seriously affected by the McCarthy probes.[79] In any case, beginning in 1950, Copland, who had been appalled at Stalin's persecution of Shostakovich and other artists, began resigning from participation in leftist groups. He decried the lack of artistic freedom in the Soviet Union, and in his 1954 Norton lecture he asserted that loss of freedom under Soviet Communism deprived artists of "the immemorial right of the artist to be wrong." He began to vote Democratic, first for Stevenson and then for Kennedy..."

There are many many folks who agree with you.
The Memorial Service last night for the victims of the Tucson shooting came across as more of a political rally then just an event mourning the dead and the injured from Saturdays horrendous act. The cheers, the screams and the whistles had no place in such a somber event. Yet last night that is exactly what was on display --- juvenile behavior, that was nothing short of embarrassing and even upsetting to watch.
Obama gave another of his patented long winded speeches, in his usual smug and condescending fashion. Liberals may have loved it and I'm sure he will get a bounce with some Independent voters. However, I seriously doubt it will resurrect his failed Presidency in the long term.
It rubbed salt in the wounds of those who need healing. There was a clear non-Biblical spiritual void invited and present last night. It was all man-centered and humanistic lacking any reverence for the value of life or the true Creator of all living things. It was a pep rally. Not what the city of Tucson needed to heal from the actions of a madman.

I am a bit confused. I didn’t watch the ‘memorial rally’ last night but got my info from this thread beginning at about 30 minutes from the beginning. Based on many (most) of the posts, I got the impression that there were people in the group holding signs leading for applause, cheers and other inappropriate behavior. Now listening to commentary this morning I get a completely different impression.
I think the aid to Gabby would agree with you. Did you notice how he sat there somberly with a glare looking straight at Obama. Also I noticed that family members were not clapping and cheering?

When he started his “speech” hed had his head to the side as usual and could have been talking about a stimulus bill...
Point: that head to the side might well be a sign of his boredom, distain and lying..
How often does he keep his head straight up and down ???
