Thank you! I got a missed call on my cellphone 2 days ago from the SEC Enforcement Division. Thought it might be because of a post here.
Way to go, JimRob!
If Righthaven (or anyone else) tries to subpoena us for any poster info, well demand through our lawyer that they serve us with a DMCA takedown notice instead.
We have officially filed with the copyright office and are fully protected:

Also, as part of our settlement agreement, they agreed to serve us DMCA takedown notices instead of suing us in the future.
Oh! Great idea! Just don’t sic Righthaven on me...
Who can doubt that Whinehaven’s ultimate goal is to shut-down FR and other conservative sites?
Actually, in this case I don’t think it is political, just about money shakedowns. They have also filed suits against a lot of liberal sites including DU. One of their first suits was against the DNC.
Bloggers already know of the association between Barack Obama, Michelle Obama and Steve Gibson. The latters Righthaven firm has launched a legal war on websites over alleged copyright infringement.
All three worked for Chicago Law firm Sidley Austin LLP, where Gibson and Michelle Obama coincidentally specialized in copyright-related intellectual property law for the firm.
