Raging Waters In Australia and Brazil Product of Global Warming
ABC News ^ | January 13, 2011 | By LINSEY DAVIS and JENNIFER METZ

The pictures today from around the world of dramatic rooftop rescues from raging waters, makes it seem as though natural disasters are becoming an everyday occurrence. But they're not all that natural; climate scientists say man-made global warming is the sudden force behind the forces of nature.

"If left unchecked, climate warming will continue so the things that we're having hints of now, foretastes of now, will come stronger," Richard Wankerville, a climate scientist said.

The extreme weather the world has seen is part of a larger trend, he said. "The world is warming up ... It's warming for sure and science is very confident that most of the warming is due to human causes."

Yeah, Wankerville.

I’m guessing that the W word isn’t as common currency in the US as it is in the UK, but it’s oh so fitting that a Dick Wankerville would be part of the AGW agenda.

The global warmers should really tone down their rhetoric. Enough of their vitriol. Their level of discourse should be condemned.

These people can shove it!

It is freezing here in Jersey, and I am surrounded by snow. Is that caused by global warming or is that climate change? Somebody needs to tell these people to shut the hell up!

These people are a bunch of tree worshiping pagans. All I have to say is “shove it”!

“and science is very confident”

Who is this Mr Science? What makes him so confident?

Eastern Australia is supposed to get above average rainfall during a summer time La Nina, but this rain has been severe. And they also went into this rain with a mostly filled dam above Brisbane. Must have been expecting the previous drought and less rainfall to continue. This La Nina has been something special. Severe precipitation that you normally do not get during a La Nina. What we really have here is strong La Nina combined with a PDO and weak sun. No El Nino and no global warming involved at all.

Good catch. These people cannot think logically: they have to anthropomorphise reason itself.

I think Mr. Science is any scientist who gets “research grant money” to fund their lunacy. Someone, anyone, beat these unethical, low-integrity fools with their dissertations. I mean that only in love and tolerance to help them stop embarrassing them selves. Together we thrive!!!!!!

It wasn’t that long ago that Australia’s drought was supposed to go on forever because of global warming.

I lived in Brazil for may years, back in the late sixties, until around ‘80..These heavy rains and floods were a yearly occurence...The deadly mudslides would occur about every two or three years in Rio...nothing new under the sun...

Hey!
AGW caused the drought in the first place, so now that these rains have caused flooding, AGW must be to blame again?!?!?!

It causes both the problem AND the solution doncha know?

Corrected and expanded. Later.

What we really have here is strong La Nina running on over 6 months now, combined with a Cold PDO and weakly active sun running on over 6 years. Those are the present conditions. Not last years average atmospheric temp. The atmosphere temps have been falling and are right now close to normal. Only two decent hot spots in shallow ocean water right now and they are no where near Australia or Brazil. Right now there are no El Nino effects and no Global Warming effects possibly occurring during the actual flooding.
