Carnival, Other Cruise Lines Fleeing California Amid Mexican Drug War
ABC News ^

Posted on 01/14/2011 12:33:10 PM PST by roses of sharon

Carnival Cruise Lines is pulling the last of its ships out of San Diego, and other cruise operators are departing Southern California because of economic woes and fears over traveling to Mexico.

Carnival announced Thursday that its Carnival Spirit is moving to Australia by April 2012, a move the Port of San Diego says will cost the local economy millions.

The Los Angeles Times says Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas is relocating from the Port of Los Angeles to Galveston, Texas, next week and the Norwegian Star will leave Los Angeles in May for Tampa, Fla.

The cruise industry is seeing signs of recovery in Florida and elsewhere, but persistent drug-related violence has meant fading interest in cruises to Mexico, the chief destination of California-based ships.

Good. California needs to be walled off from the rest of the country.

It’s Sarah Palin’s fault. If she’d only have not quite the governorship, started the Tea Party, and been so uppity, California wouldn’t have drug problems, illegal alien problems, earthquakes, and global warming.

Darn her!!

We were on the Mariner of the Seas last January (gorgeous ship). While in Puerto Vallarta, there was a bomb threat called in to the ship. Passengers on board couldn’t get off; passengers on shore, couldn’t get on while the ship was searched top to bottom. Divers were seen checking the ship underneath.

There was an open bar in the Plaza that evening as a thank you for our patience.

That’s ok. They have Jerry Brown now, they don’t need economic activity. The Moonbeam Gov has a plan and it involves free everything for everybody, except for “the rich”, of course, who are going to pay for it all.

There are a lot of Freepers in CA including JimRob. Don’t paint the entire state with the Liberal brush.

I understand. I have family there as well.

But the government is out-of-control liberal and I don't know that it will ever be able to change.

The advice I have given to my relatives is: leave.

What could possibly go wrong with that plan?

I went to Ensenada on the Mariner of the Seas a few years ago. Fun trip. I wouldn’t do it again due to the threat of violence. It was a bit scary then and i would imagine much scarier now.

“We were on the Mariner of the Seas last January (gorgeous ship).”

I was on the Mariner of the Seas last October and I totally agree with you; it is a gorgeous ship!

I know the ship carries up to 3,114 passengers and on our cruise, I don’t even think it was full. I also got a dirt-cheap rate ($499 for a 7-night Mexican Riviera cruise, interior stateroom).

Fortunately, we didn’t have any safety issues, but I was quite nervous in Mexico.

The Mariner of the Seas is a wonderful ship and I understand why Royal Caribbean is moving it to more profitable destinations, however it’s a shame that half their fleet is going to Europe, as the fares over there are MUCH higher than over here and is way beyond my budget.

California is falling apart and the businesses know it, hence the exodus. I am still in shock that, even though all the writing is on the wall, that the people voted Jerry Brown back in and re-elected Barbara Boxer. Pure insanity!

True...Californians voted for this.

Everytime Americans vote for Democrats and Rinos they vote for this.

It is sad, I can’t even fathom what the future is for CA, when the violence gets to be too much.

It is all starting to fall apart. Illinois as well. Meanwhile - ALL of TV including some of Fox is treating Hussein like the secon coming of Jesus.

This is getting too much like Weimar Germany but possibly even worse. Remember that Hitler was not a German as someone else is also an usurper. If only the Germans had by law only allowed Germans to be chancellor/PM.

In addition - chaos brought to you by the same bansters that gave the world - Hitler aka JP Morgan/Chase and Rothschild and the rest of the other european banks that own the Fed.
