Pat Buchanan Smacks Down Bill Press: 'You’ve Got to Get Beyond Being a Fringe Talk Show Host'
News Busters ^ | 15 Jan 2011 | Noel Sheppard

During an impromptu reunion of CNN's "Crossfire" Friday, Pat Buchanan told his old sparring partner Bill Press, "You’ve got to get beyond being a fringe talk show host."

In the middle of a very heated debate on MSNBC's "The Ed Show," Buchanan strongly cautioned the host and his liberal guest, "I think this last week, there’s been a climate of hatred built up against [Sarah Palin] who did nothing and I tell you, if she does run for president of the United States, I pray to the lord she’s given secret service protection from day one" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

PRESS: Because, because, Pat, you look at the response to that memorial service where the president hit absolutely the right tone. Sarah Palin is tone deaf, at some point she’s got to go beyond being a fringe candidate, Pat. She had a chance. She missed it. She blew it. She’s done.

BUCHANAN: Look, you’ve got to get beyond being a fringe talk show host, Bill. Here’s what happened.

Great response from Buchanan !

Yeah, I don’t agree with everything Pat says, especially with respect to Israel and GWOT, BUT I’m glad he smacked both Press and Schultz down hard this time.

Bill Press is just like every other far left fringe nut job. He’ll make an excuse for anything unless your a Conservative. They’ll take apart everything you say, make something out of it, usually twisting it until they turn it into something they can use against you, then they beat it like beating a dead horse.

obdumma “hit the right tone”? Maybe for a far left fringe nutjob like Bill Press.

And when a wacko like that calls Palin “fringe,” you know she’s on the right track!

One of my great unfulfilled dreams is to smack the smirk off of Bill Press’s smarmy puss.

I would agree, except I wouldn't recognize Bill Press if he threw up on my shoes at a Taco Bell.

I watched the complete video a few minutes ago at Right Scoop, and Pat came out brillianly for Sarah Palin.

Too bad that gawd awful Bill Press got face time, but Buchanan blasted him. It was actually the first time I’ve seen that Ed Schulzt. Ugly bastard, isn’t he? LOL.

Civil war is coming.

May be 20 years, but it’s coming.

The leftists cannot help themselves. They wanted her to apologize. She tells them where to go. They wet themselves.

She beat them. And this is just the beginning. God protect her. She’ll do the rest.

What was said about U.S. Grant applies to Palin in spades.

Referring to his courage when, unlike all previous union generals who retreated after a setback, he continued his advance against Lee after his first encounter had resulted in a disastrous loss in the Wilderness in spring 1864, one Union veteran remarked, “Ole Ulysses don’t scare worth a damn.”

Here, the left failed to even lay a glove on her with their bogus slander, and they expected HER to apologize?! No, sir. Not her. Romney, Huckabee, Gingrich, Pawlenty and the rest of the pantywaisted alpha males in the GOP would have apologized on cue out of abject fear. Old Sarah, on the other hand, “don’t scare worth a damn.”

The left had better get used to it. She is moving relentlessly by the right flank, and her target is them.

As I wrote after the November 2012 election:

“There is one candidate in the GOP who has the resolve and political skill to take similar political and rhetorical hits, because she understands one thing: We have the numbers. The other side knows what she is doing and they know the threat she poses for them. Her strategy is not complicated. Our side has the numbers, but has heretofore lacked the will to mobilize them. The left and its Establishment allies are going to try to destroy her and to demoralize her supporters. This was exactly the strategy employed by Lee in 1864. But Grant was a bulldog who simply would not be deterred. I think Grant and Palin share a characteristic that is sadly absent in politicians today: Sherman referred to it as “four o’clock in the morning courage” meaning that you could wake Grant up at four o’clock in the morning with the news that the enemy had turned his right flank and he would be cool as a cucumber. The fearless Palin too “doesn’t scare worth a damn.”

For the next two years, Sarah Palin is going to relentlessly press Democrats and GOP in the Congress toward Conservative Constitutional governance. They are going to be dropping back, losing ground at every turn. And when they diverge from that path (and they will) they are going to feel the sting of her rhetorical, as well as her political, whip. She will be moving on Washington by the Right Flank. Relentlessly.

Governor Palin realizes that the job cannot be completed without the Presidency in 2012. She realizes as well that this is going to be a hard slog, not a walk in the park. I don’t think she is enamored of fame for its own sake and if there were someone else to do the job, she would be happy to yield the stage. But she knows as well that the current crop of McClellans in the GOP either will not, or cannot, restrain the federal leviathan and unleash the productive capacity of the American people. They are either too invested in the current system or too weakwilled or too politically ungifted to achieve it (and in some cases all three). She is the only politician on the scene with the political capacity, the understanding and the will to complete the reorientation of American political system from its current statist spiral toward proper constitutional interpretation and governance.

The Great Civil War Historian Shelby Foote said, referring to Grant and Lee: “Lee always understood the Union Generals. It is not that he didn’t understand Grant. It was that Grant knew how to whip him. And he did.”

The left understands Palin better than many conservatives do. They know what she is up to, which is one reason why they devote so much negative attention to her. But Palin, for her part, has shown that she knows how to whip them. And she will.”

The left’s appointment at Appomattox is November 6, 2012. Don’t be late, fellas.

Calling him “Sergeant Schultz” is an insult to the late John Banner. BTW, did you know that all the main “Nazi” soldiers on “Hogan’s Heroes” including Oberst (Colonel/Kommandant) Klink, SS-Sturmbannführer (Major) Hochstetter, General der Infanterie (Lieutenant General) Burkhalter and Unterfeldwebel (Staff Sergeant) Schultz were all Jewish?

If you have ever watched Bill Press on NPR programs, he is abrasive and a far leftist from way back. His attacks on Sarah Palin are unfounded and if the left stream media continues with their rage against Sarah, she may be the next victim of a leftist lunatic.

I would love to see a debate between Mr. Press and Mr. Levin. If it ever happened, there would have to be five minute breaks so Mr. Press could change his Depends.

Thanks, guys. The Grant analogy often comes to mind with Palin. So does the Nathan Bedford Forrest on occasion.

Sarah Palin’s performance on the national stage has been, quite literally, so sparkling that it brings to mind a virtual treasure trove of historical metaphors.
