Elsewhere, a drug smuggler is having a difficult time explaining the empty vacuum cleaner in a different box.....

With that much meth in it, the vacuum cleaner could run itself!

...2 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and 2.2 pounds of cocaine shrink wrapped inside the box. All I ever get for Christmas is fruit cake.

“Who gives their mother a refurbished vacuum cleaner for Christmas!?”
Probably kids that don’t have enough money to buy a new one.

Maybe the vacuum wasn't the gift!

Several years ago, my boss at the time had to fire the bookkeeper who'd developed a crack and cocaine problem; he passed the company car onto his son.
I made the kid paranoid by mentioning that I hoped he didn't get stopped and have 'traces' found in the car.....he ended up taking the car someplace for a drug-sniffing analysis to play it safe (nothing found).

Probably kids that dont have enough money to buy a new one. Ok, I'm going to have to assume the mother asked for a vacuum for Christmas. If not, the money used to by even a used vacuum could have easily bought a more thoughtful gift.

And I thought the bad news was getting a used vacuum cleaner for Christmas

At least in a vacuum one doesn’t have to worry about the drugs oxidizing.
To: FrankR
I was wondering how many posts it would take before someone said that..
To: tsmith130
Come on peoples, times are tough. You haven't ever received a "useful" Christmas gift? Man, I just started getting impractical gifts. :-)
If I needed a vacuum cleaner, that would be a thoughtful gift.

And I was amazed that someone hadn't said it already...usually when I think of an "obvious" retort, it's already been used 7 times.
Oh well, somebody had to say it, might as well be me...LOL

Who gives their mother a refurbished vacuum cleaner for Christmas!? I don't think we are in a position to judge. Might have been a boneheaded present, could have been exactly right. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. BTW, my Canon Rebel is reconditioned and is just as good a new out of the box. I think the previous owner used it as a paperweight. I always reconditioned goods, where available.
