Good thing since it was a big snore.

I watched as much of it as I could stomach. He actually said some pretty good things. But that's where it ends. He said lots of great things during the 2008 campaign ... but look what happened afterward. Where's the transparency he promised? He's about as transparent as mud. He says one thing, then does another. I'd like to think that they'll actually do some of the things he stated ... like simpifying tax codes, for example ... but we know him now, don't we? We know that he won't do what he says. Pathetic.

Paul Ryan for president!

Our beloved Free Republic has become useless during live events or breaking news.

I watch Obama for all of about 15 seconds and had to turn it off. I did watch Paul Ryan and thought he was very good!

That portion on DADT seemed intimately personal when he stated that it didn’t matter who a person loved. It sounded wierd.

It was actually fun to watch with the sound muted. The reaction of the people was fascinating. Many seemed disinterested at times.

Krauthamer (Fox News correspondent) basically said Obama’s speech was lousy. I think the word uninspired was also used by someone, I could be wrong. Well, I wouldn’t exactly call his speech lousy or abysmal, but I do have a question which was presented to me by, I think about eight year old, little girl:

“The Obama lady says that big people are obese. So that means big government is obese government.

What a smart little girl. She was from India. And this little pretty has it right. Why isn’t big government called obese government?

Look, I am really not too sure that millions of American jobs are going to be created by making Americans like me pay for the education of illegal aliens - I think I heard something in there about that in Obama’s speech, and something about these little kids who while saluting the flag of the United States will patriotic fervor – and suffer only due to the fault of their parents and not of their own - are being deported instead of educated. Actually, no matter what side of the aisle you are on regarding this issue, there aren’t very many little illegal alien kids being taken out of an elementary school class and deported. Perhaps some wish it would be so, but most of them are getting not only an education but free lunch meals on school grounds even on Saturdays and other non-school attendance days. At least, that’s the case here in California.

I am not against taxation for government programs in every single case. For example, I wouldn’t mind being taxed to support an aggressive space program. I think Obama cut NASA funding. Not good. And, I support the military. And, as we see crime on the rise I support higher taxes to pay for, to hire, and to provide equipment and cars and technology to our local and federal police.

So, there are some things that, if we cannot have a fair tax, or some better method other than the current means of raising government revenues, I would support higher taxation for those examples.

But those other examples, in particular the “education” scam, well – something else has to be the answer than more taxes for those government louts who have destroyed the education of our children. I am really not sure what the answer will be – perhaps less government regulations and “licenses” and such regarding who is allowed to teach, both privately and over the internet and within avenues of technology and public networking. I mean, there was something in his speech about competing with those from India who are better educated than we are. And, I think there are a whole lot of well educated Indians and you know what? I can now hire one of them over the internet to teach and tutor my kids way better than the government toadies and school administrators here in California who are rolling in more public largess and money than most all other nations and in particular including India.

There is some other reason why, if Obama is correct, that Indians are better educated.

I don’t have any answers. The speech was ok, but a lot about obese government was there. And I just don’t understand why anyone would think government, in particular a Democratic Party run government which is soon to come to an end, can do anything better than anyone else, or can even live up to one of its promise that we will ever get anything free, or that anything will ever work, under their dictate and using my money.
