American Thinker: The Birther Trial Balloon – by Cindy Simpson (Analysis from Hill Buzz)
Hill Buzz ^ | January 25, 2011 | Kevin DuJan

Posted on 01/25/2011 8:03:49 PM PST by RobinMasters

American Thinker ran an interesting piece today entitled “The Birther Trial Balloon” by Cindy Simpson.

In it, Simpson makes the case that hiding Obama’s birth certificate is part of some scheme for his re-election campaign: ie, to create a mystery just so Americans can be fascinated by it, then produce the document at the last minute to make conservatives look bad for asking to see it in the first place.

Just three short years ago, of course, I would have said that was ridiculous, but very little about the Obama administration or the things it does makes any sense.

For Simspon’s theory to be accurate, however, Obama, David Axelrod, and the rest would have had to conspire on this many, many years ago, hiding his birth certificate just so it could be used in a crazy scheme for his re-election bid in 2012. They also would have had to keep it hidden through his 2008 election bid, having masterfully laid down this future trap with re-election in mind.

Everyone involved with the Obama White House has proven they aren’t that smart.

Obama himself was a D student at Columbia and Harvard (produce his transcripts and prove me wrong). Axelrod is a master manipulator and inventor of astroturfing, but he’s not a psychic genius.

Obama’s just benefitting from conservatives’ constant fear of the media, in this issue and with everything else.

It’s been a nightmare since Reagan left office.

Natural Born Citizen is an eligibility requirement to be President of the United States per the Constitution.

It is not now, nor has it ever been, a type of citizenship.

Three types of citizenship are recognized by our government: native born (born in the U.S.); citizen by statue (born outside U.S. with one or more parents a U.S.citizen); and naturalized citizen (foreign national naturalized as U.S.citizen).

The only place in our legal system where Natural Born Citizen appears is as an eligibility requirement in the U.S. Constitution for President of the United States. NBC is NOT a type of citizenship but an eligibility requirement only and no one has a right to be President.

Natural Born Citizen is mentioned in SCOTUS cases and has been described thus: a Natural Born Citizen is born in the U.S.A. to citizen parents (both parents are citizens).

This indicates that to be eligible for the Presidency one must be born within the United States and both parents are citizens.

Ronald Reagan was born in Illinois to parents who were both U.S. citizens. He was eligible to be President.

Native born citizen: Gov. Jindal was born in the U.S. but his parents were then citizens of India. He is not eligible for the Presidency.

Citizen by statute: Sen. John McCain was born in Panama to U.S. citizen parents. The Panama Canal Zone was leased by the U.S. Government for administrative purposes and was NEVER U.S. territory. He is not eligible for the Presidency.

(In order for Sen. McCain to be eligible, a change to the U.S.Constitution would be required. That is a lengthy process involving all the States.)

Naturalized citizen: Gov. Arnold Schwarznegger was an Austrian citizen who naturalized as an U.S. citizen. He is not eligible to be President.

I hope this clarifies things for you. People can be citizens but not automatically be eligible to be President.

Yeah, sure.

Wishing it wasn’t so won’t change it one bit.

USCIS: take a look at the third paragraph.

“Frank Marshall Davis is Barack Hussein Obama’s BIOLOGICAL father.

No other explanation makes sense legally or logically!”

In that case, he IS a natural born citizen and has nothing to hide. Whatever his faults, he’s not responsible for his conception!

The only way his BC could cause him problems (and be worth spending millions to hide) is if it clearly and plainly reveals that he’s not eligible to be President. Therefore, that is what I believe to be the case. Nothing else makes sense.

Not to forget, also, all the earlier references by various people (including Obama himself when he tacitly admitted it when he said that he was running to Senator, not President) to the fact that he was not American born.

I should have been more clear: The part about McCain is utter rubbish. Pure fantasy.

McCain was born in the Republic of Panama.

The Navy Hospital would be built two years AFTER his birth but that doesn’t matter. Sen. John McCain is a citizen because his parents were citizens, but he was born outside the U.S.A. and is not a NBC.

So sorry, he isn’t eligible to be President.

And neither is Obama.

Good GOD. Do you know how many soldiers and diplomats have had kids in foreign countries. THEY ARE NBCs if their parents are US Citizens. It has been codified in our laws for a very, very, very long time. It doesn’t matter what you think about it.

Jindal and McCain are both eligible. I might even consider voting for Jindal, especially if he wins the nomination.

BTW, Billy Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn are also fully eligible, having been born in the USA of citizen parents (only the first condition being relevant). Obviously much more American than Obama, McCain, or Jindal or Ahnold, by your estimation. Would you vote for either one?

You are confusing the legal definition of citizenship, the three types of statutory citizenships recognized by our country, with a requirement for the highest political office in the U.S.A. They are two entirely different things.

In the U.S.Constitution is it very clear: one needs to be a citizen to be a Representative in the House of Congress; one needs to be a citizen to be a Senator in Congress; to be President of the United States one MUST be a Natural Born Citizen.

There is a difference, and our founders wanted it that way.

If Obama was indeed born in Hawaii, he still isn’t eligible to be President as his father was a foreign national, in his case, a subject of Great Britain.

Many people don’t know this, but Obama’s father registered him with the Consulate in Hawaii as a British subject after birth. Three years later, when Kenya became an independent nation, Obama II was again registered but this time as a citizen of Kenya.

The main thing to remember about Obama is that the only way to shed his status as a subject of Great Britain is by naturalizing as citizen to another nation, something we assume he has never done.

I actually think it would backfire on Obama, because people would wonder why it took him so long to release it. It would be seen as screwing with Americans.

NONSENSE. McCain is an NBC, as are the thousands upon thousands of children born abroad to US parents in the line of duty. PERIOD

You do not have to pretend I don’t know the difference between a citizen and an NBC. I knew it long before you did.

I know all about the Obama story too. Completely unrelated to McCain’s circumstances.

I don’t know....She’s pretty much spot on. It’s the letter of the law vs. the spirit of the law. If McCain was born on Panamanian soil to citizen parents, by law he would be a statatory citizen. Once you open the technicality door.....anything goes. See Balsawoody’s posts ;)

This would be the toughest kind of case for the Supreme Court to resolve.

That’s the first I heard of that.....is that why he wasn’t registered with the HDOH. /s

I agree with you, but it would be a tough call where you put the cutoff.[If I were donning a black robe] Citizen parents serving their country that have children born on American bases, embassies-——Natural Born Citizens, IMO.

As I would consider my sister a Natural Born Citizen because she was born in Germany on an American Army base when my parents were stationed there.
