Thought you may be intersted:

We ran over 3,000 posts from Friday till this morning on a different thread regarding the Egypt crisis. It’s a lot to look over, but worth scrolling through to pick up great information and links to articles. We’ve definitely been on a marathon.

Our aircraft carriers don’t need to do anything, except chopper folks out of the embassy.

We dont need any military near there right now.

Serious stuff folks

http://twitter.com/IntelTweet

Tharwat Salah Shehata has issued a message on behalf of the Islamic Jihad Movement (EIJ) “in solidarity with our Muslim brothers in Egypt.”

The Syrian Muslim Brotherhood has issued a communique declaring that “the winds blowing from Tunisia... are about to reach Damascus.”

Jihadists have called on AQAP to launch solidarity attacks tomorrow on Yemeni prisons and bases used by local security forces.

Islamic militants are appealing for help from Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) in mounting a “day of rage” in Yemen on Thursday.

Radical cleric Abu Munther al-Shanqiti has issued a fatwah endorsing participation in protest rallies against the Mubarak regime in Egypt.

Al-Shanqiti: “If the Egyptian regime falls... then perhaps a major earthquake will take place in the region akin to the battle of Sept. 11.”

NOT MY CONTENT!! Got this from a tweet. http://aboosh.wordpress.com/2011/02/03/letter-to-obama/

Dear Mr. President,

This is your moment.

As the whole world is witnessing the tragic and disheartening events in Egypt unfold, the conscience of the world is still looking up to your leadership to take a solid stance to quill the massacre the peaceful protesters are subjected to in front of our eyes.

The protesters in Egypt have very concise and clear demands: For Mubarak and his regime to be decimated now, not in nine months; for the constitution to be changed to allow for legitimate and transparent presidential and parliamentary elections; to protect the basic rights of freedom of expression and freedom of peaceful assembly. The Brave People of Egypt deserve the liberty, dignity and equal human rights their fellow human beings enjoy all around the world.

Mr. President,

We are clinging to the last strings of faith in your leadership. We have seen the wrath of what heavy handed policies did to this troubled region. We realize that there are enough good and level-headed people in America and all over the world that are looking for peaceful and immediate conclusion to the tragedy in Egypt. We have looked up to the moment you became the President and shed tears of joy and relief when you took the reins of reversing the unbalanced tone and policies of your predecessor. We believed and bought into your calls for that all people can stand up for their rights of freedom and to achieve their aspirations.

Mr. President, the belief in your message is now crumbling and wavering. It is being held hostage in the name of a balance of interest that sounds a déjà vu to this troubled region. We are afraid our understanding of your message was wrong and afraid that the people you have addressed before have been abandoned. We are afraid for another generation of young people to be wasted and consumed by the tyrant few, in the name of strategic interest.

Mr President, do not throw a lifeline for an autocratic totalitarianism that will cease no chance but to take revenge against the free will of the people, and to grow even deeper roots in an angry soil that has said enough already.

Mr President, this is the moment of truth. This is the moment of test. What are words if they translate to nothing. In tough times like these, actions speak louder than words. We call on you to call for Mr. Mubarak to step down now and immediately, and to return power back to the people who have long looked for it.

Dear Mr. President, the eyes in Egypt and the whole world are looking towards you, and want a moment of truth. Do not let them turn down, then turn away.

Signed.

Youth of the World

Mubaraks goons seem to have re taken the bridge with the help of small arms fire, and are raining molitovs and rocks down on the “democracy” crowd in the square below. sort of a lull in gunfire at the moment.

It’s amazing how the US media downplays the Muslim Brotherhood.

This is a group that is pretty much the wellspring of modern Islamic terrorism.

You go back and you can see all the connections.

Founded in 1928, establishes links/ties with Germany in the 30s/40s/WW2 period.

Their chief ideologue Sayid Qutb is intellectual godfather of Al Qaeda and other terror groups. His brother Muhammad(also a member of the Brotherhood) taught in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where one of the students he mentored was a rather tall kid whose father was a billioniare construction magnate. Care to guess his initials?

Another Brotherhood scholar was a man named Abdullah Azzam who also taught at the same Saudi Arabia. He was a Palestinian who moved to Jordan after the 67 war and then to Egypt in 1971. While in Eygpt Azzam met up with other folks whose names may be familiar. Omar Abdul-Rahman the blind sheikh behind the 1993 WTC bombing. Ayman al-Zawahiri. After graduating in 1973, he returned to Jordan but their had been a crackdown so he took a job teaching at Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah. Where one of his students just happened to be the same tall rich kid who was also a student of Sayid Qutb’s brother.

Azzam eventually moved to Pakistan in 1980 and was influential in setting up and supporting the Mujahideen through his MAK group. In 1981/1982 his pupil followed him and put his money to good use supporting the anti-Soviet Jihad. He helped run Azzam’s organization and network, dealt with procurement, getting fighters in and out, logistics, etc... As the Jihad was winding down Azzam and his pupil decided to turn their attention elsewhere and figure out their next move. They got together with some other fundamentalists and basically expanded the MAK’s reach and gave it a new name. Al Qaeda.

Other notable alumno of the Brotherhood include a guy with the initials of KSM.

Qutb, Azzam, Abdul-Rahman, Zawahiri, Bin Laden...the Muslim Brotherhood is the thread that connects them all, that weaves through the story.

And now these guys may be on the verge of taking over in Egypt?

“Ultraconservative Islam — Salafis — on rise in Arab nations”

“A dozen satellite TV channels, most Saudi-funded, are perhaps Salafism’s most effective vehicle. They feature conservative preachers, call-in advice shows and discussion programs on proper Islamic behavior.

Cairo’s many Salafist mosques are packed on Fridays. Outside Shaeriyah mosque, a bookstall featured dozens of cassettes by Mohammed Hasaan, a prolific conservative preacher who sermonizes on the necessity of jihad and the injustices inflicted on Muslims.

Alongside the cassettes, a book titled “The Sinful Behaviors of Women” displayed lipstick, playing cards, perfumes and cellphones on the cover. Another was titled “The Excesses of American Hubris.”

Critics of Salafism say it has spread so quickly in part because the Egyptian and Saudi governments encouraged it as an apolitical, nonviolent alternative to hard-line jihadi groups.

These critics warn that the governments are playing with fire — that Salafism creates an environment that breeds extremism. al-Qaeda continues to try to draw Salafists into jihad, and its No. 2, the Egyptian Ayman al-Zawahri, praised Salafists in an Internet statement in April, urging them to take up arms.

“The Salafi line is not that jihad is not a good thing, it is just not a good thing right now,” said Richard Gauvain, a lecturer in comparative religion at the American University in Cairo.

The Salafis’ talk of eventual jihad focuses on fighting Americans in Afghanistan and Iraq, not on overthrowing pro-U.S. Arab governments denounced by al-Qaeda. Most Salafi clerics preach loyalty to their countries’ rulers and some sharply denounce al-Qaeda.

Egypt, with Saudi help, sought to rehabilitate jailed Islamic militants, in part by providing them with Salafi books. Critics say President Hosni Mubarak’s government sees the Salafists as a counterweight to the opposition Muslim Brotherhood.

The political quietism of the Salafis and their injunctions to always obey the ruler are too good an opportunity for established Arab rulers to pass up, said novelist Alaa Aswani, one of the most prominent critics of rising conservatism in Egypt.

“That was a kind of Christmas present for the dictators because now they can rule with both the army and the religion,” he said.”

http://www.usatoday.com/news/religion/2008-10-21-islam-salafis_N.htm

And Qaradawi wants the Salafists to merge with the Sufis, making mystical Islam a violent moving target.

That’s funny, but what is worrisome was in a report I read today regarding ‘improving Muslim Relations’...it actually recommended bringing over foreign muslim students to our US training centers and academies.

Entire thing looks like a threat to me, especially the last sentence. Somebody knows something about to happen and that something is big? Wish the list of ‘days of rage’ could be found. I am having no luck.

SE Mom, I’m surprised.

You seem to have a good grip on the situation. You didn’t know that guns were illegal in Egypt? The only people allowed to have them are police and military.

Sometimes, they accidentally take them home when their mandatory service is up.
