Giuliani is Leading GOP Contender If Front-Runners Drop Out
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 01/25/2011 | Scott Rasmussen

Posted on 02/03/2011 12:56:41 AM PST by speciallybland

So what if Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee and Newt Gingrich decide not to run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012 or their campaigns falter in the early going? Who will the GOP turn to?

That’s what Rasmussen Reports asked Likely Republican Primary voters in a new national telephone survey. Not surprisingly the best known of the eight other prominent Republicans mentioned came out on top. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani emerges as the clear leader among this group with 29% support. Tim Pawlenty, who recently stepped down as governor of Minnesota, comes in second with 17%.

Such polls are only about name recognition, not about policy or fitness to hold the office. I don’t think that any prospective candidate ought to be either encouraged or discouraged by something as vapid as a poll that basically asks, “Which of these guys have you heard of?”

“Giuliani is Leading GOP Contender If Front-Runners Drop Out”

Good grief, if enough people drop out I’D be the front runner.

By the way, I’ve just announced my candidacy just in case enough people drop out...

Presidential material? Don't think so ...

But he's got a cigar! Clinton had a cigar. Clinton was president. Of course, he was far from presidential.

Is this satire?!? Guiliani ran such an incompetent campaign in 2008 it was farcical that he was ever considered a viable candidate.

Maybe he could be a leading GOP contender if he were actually a Republican.

It is obvious the party machinery is behind Romney. That machine gave us McCain last time, even in my home state, Oklahoma, where I thought for sure the Huckster would have some pull. Guiliani could help siphon votes from Romney the way Fred Thompson siphoned votes from whoever the hell he helped take out in the primaries - I don’t remember - but he siphoned enough votes off a contender to give us Queeg.

I do not know who I want yet. Not Huckabee, Not sure about Palin or Bachman. Turned off by Pawlenty (sp?). For now, I spectate - it’s a long road.

Scott Rasmussen
Giuliani is Leading GOP Contender If Front-Runners Drop Out

That is one of the most STOO-PID Headlines I've ever seen.

Fruity Rooty Julie-Annie has less of a chance at being the 'front runner' than I do of winning the Pentathlon in the next Olympics. Or winning the upcoming Daytona 500 in a Chevy Volt.

And I can't can't my make my mind up if Scott is mocking Rooty, or he's shooting for a job from Rooty in any campaign. I HOPE it's the former. Or Scott needs some 'series' mental help.

Giuliani is Leading GOP Contender If Front-Runners Drop Out-——headline, story and propaganda written by the pukeneos.

Although, I agree with your take——Rasmussen is mocking the ambitions of Going Nowhere Rooty.

Dumbest survey award. Reduces it to plain old name recognition in a completely unrealistic scenario. Rasmussen is usually better than this, but he’s been contorting the reporting of some results to highlight the anti-Palin, as opposed to the pro-Palin, in them. If the guy really is Republican, it must be a tepid version of Republican indeed.
