"Me laff yu long time!"
Yes, but what is the quality of the construction?
What is the common denominator in blocking the USA from building the same type of city, roads, infrastructure?
LAWYERS.
Lawyers have ruined the USA with harassing lawsuits designed to line their pockets. Remember the Superfund from years ago? Where did the majority of the money go to clean toxic sites? Lawyers fees.
Lawyers produce nothing in society, their living is summed up best as ‘human leaches’.
“We capitalist you yankee lazy dog. You go shop now....American farmer fat and lazy....Buy some China yum yum...Take home and eat. You go now”

Now that there post is fuuuuuuny... and I don’t care who you are. LMAO.
She looks like a chopstick with legs....If that’s your girl friend, please feed her.
You are missing the point.
The problem is not Freepers allegedly “whining” and being “crybabies, it is the socialist, politically correct, non-judgmental culture that has overtaken America. And BTW, what is with deploying such inflammatory terminology here on FR? If you are a conservative, these are your allies, being that these for the most part, are among the most self-reliant, conscientious and productive of Americans.
I run my own productive business and do well for myself and my employees, but that does only so much to address the institutional and psychological pathology that has beset us as a nation.
I’m already doing my part, but I will continue to complain about what ails us.
“
astounding given the relatively short time frame
“
It is astounding.
But then you have to consider the Chicoms can just about confiscate land
and compel labor.
(This has been shown in a documentary I saw on PBS in which some
laborers through a revolt over their treatment.)
Is Raffles hotel still there?
I was told it has one of the finest curry buffets
on Saturday.
There is no such thing as religion when talking about...
good curry.
“Well, Long Tall Suli, she built for speed
“She got ev’rything that Papa John need
“Oh, baby...yeah, baby...
“Ooh, baby, havin’ me some fun tonight!”
Speaking of being a proud American, a friend of mine came from Taiwan as a college student (I think). His sponsor was in a one of our western states. He was afraid to go there because he thought, “All countries have big cities that look impressive, but leave the city and you’ll see the real poverty”, such as was the case in Taiwan. Well, he had his views expanded. He was extremely impressed by the level of prosperity for the average citizen, by our wealth. His sponsor, a farmer, living out in the middle of nowhere, had more than most of his countrymen.
Now an Engineer here, he always tells his sons how bad it is in the rest of the world compared to here and that they should always appreciate America. We can choose our vocation and make our own lives rather than have it decided for us.
I wonder if China has BIG cities but a poor countryside...
“And what’s wrong with the idea of opening a machine shop? A friend of mine is doing quite well with his. He has little time to listen to complainers”

Well if you have at least 150K in cash laying around or don’t mind going into hock for it, you can buy a SMALL CNC Lathe and a SMALL CNC Mill for that amount.
BUT... You better keep them constantly running or you will NEVER be able to make the payments. I sell them and I know...
The bigger shops with 5 or 10 machines, that are probably paid off, will eat you for lunch. You will be out bid. Just sayin. The Machine Shop business is NOT for the faint of heart.
Wow!!!!!!
Your dreams have come true!
lol....
Yes, there is substantial poverty in China.
Having said that, it is truly amazing what Shanghai has become. I traveled there extensively in the late ‘90’s and it was truly amazing to see the growth of the city.
I wonder if they have figured out transportation yet. When I was there it was gridlock much of the time due to not enough major thoroughfares to handle the increasing mobility of the populace. And that was a decade ago...
the sad part about your statement my FRiend is that it is all so terribly true.
