Ah, true!
But if you’re Secretary of State, or a member of the State Department, it is essential that you know how to label a button OVERLOAD in Russian. ;)

Indeed. It is the mandatory nature of this class that annoys me.

No particular foreign language class should be mandatory, and if taking a foreign language is required, the students should have a selection to choose from.

Our military and intelligence communities would likely be happy with a larger number of people familiar with Arabic to pull from but I don't think many people will get much use out of it.

“Why would Texans speak Arabic? What the hell are they going to do with that? It makes no sense.”

How are you going to respect the rights of the smuggled Hezbollah and Hamas terrorists, unless you speak their language?

If you learn Spanish you can talk to your gardener.

If you learn German you can talk to your co-worker.

If you learn Mandarin you can talk to your boss.

If you learn Arabic you can talk to your enemy.

Can anybody explain to me why American children can be forced to learn arabic, but illegal mexican and other latin nationals cannot be forced to learn English?

Language of the future SLAVES. Not in my home. I cannot believe Texans are allowing this to happen.

Remember when CAIR developed a curriculum for CA schools and parents from one school district complained, took it to court, and lost? The school district decided to drop it anyway because of the problems it was causing.

Parents should tell the board they will pull their kids out. The public school teachers and administrators are more interested in keeping their jobs and they won’t be able to do that if they lose students.

Worth repeating! 20 years ago, the mere act of home-schooling was a radical and thrilling adrenalin rush, a finger-poke in the eye of The System. Today, I think God requires more of us. We need to home school with a broader purpose in mind, beyond just educating our kids. I know of a family that studies Turkish, and befriends Turkish grad students, with the goal of evangelizing them. This is a whole-family project. The kids are an integral part of the effort to make these sojourners feel welcome and valued. And it definitely hones a sophisticated Biblical world view to realize that some non-Christians are really nice people!

Although this isn't a "prophecy" thread, I believe that the God who demolished, almost overnight, the credibility of the Soviet empire could do the same for Islam. Imagine a billion people wondering what to do NEXT. Can we be ready for such an opportunity? Learning a foreign language is a long lead-time project ...

It will stop when the instructors are encouraged to find another line of work.

Yup, but having lots of infidels fluent in Arabic and conversant in Muslim culture will be invaluable as the Long War continues and we decide we need to have serious human intelligence capabilities.

The CA court found it was perfectly Constitutional to have kids read the Koran, dress like arabs, adopt Muslims names and recite Muslim prayers in school.

Imagine if it had been Christianity.

BUT, they get expelled if they happen to say "Merry Christmas".

Liberalism is a mental disease.
