The defector who convinced the White House that Iraq had a secret biological weapons programme has admitted for the first time that he lied about his story, then watched in shock as it was used to justify the war.
Rafid Ahmed Alwan al-Janabi, codenamed Curveball by German and American intelligence officials who dealt with his claims, has told the Guardian that he fabricated tales of mobile bioweapons trucks and clandestine factories in an attempt to bring down the Saddam Hussein regime, from which he had fled in 1995.
"Maybe I was right, maybe I was not right," he said. "They gave me this chance. I had the chance to fabricate something to topple the regime. I and my sons are proud of that and we are proud that we were the reason to give Iraq the margin of democracy."

I’ll put it to bed when folks here (probably the same ones who ridiculed Blix) stop peddling the lie that “everyone” knew he had WMD.
A freeper citing Al Gore as an authority!!! I’ve seen it all.
Not true!
Hans Blix repeatedly said Iraq had not accounted for stocks of Anthrax as required by the cease-fire.
That kind of revisionism won’t work. The Nervous Nelly conservatives weren’t scared into war by the gassing of the Kurds via World War I era technology but by false images of “mushroom clouds” cynically used by Cheney, Rumsfeld, and others.

Breaking? WMD report? - Posted on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 4:38:38 PM by Scarchin
The above are in reference to a Rick Santorum press conference on FoxTV 6-21-2006 where 500 + chemical munitions were found in Iraq per Santorum's statement. There was sarin and nerve gas/mustard gas.
I fully expect some drek response though...
“A lot of folks here owe Blix an apology”
That will be the day. Tell the Kurds that.

The tan barrels were found in a nine-square-kilometre storage area that also contained missiles, missile parts, gas masks, protective gear, a stripped mobile weapons laboratory and large storage containers covered by camouflage netting.
It’s funny you post that pic because a lot of people tell me I look like Gibbs.
And Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton, Pelosi... ;-)
Apparently this guy missed them:
Bush: My biggest regret is false intelligence on Iraq WMDs (Bush told ABC "World News" in an interview December 2008)
Of all the people in the world involved in this drama, you choose to believe a self-admitted liar?

Greetings, scripter! BTTT
Iraq could very well have had biologicals, perhaps weaponized to a small degree.
Gabriele Kraatz-Wadsack, a German BW inspector, wrote often about Iraq's BW history, contradictions and cover-ups during inspections.
A brief example of how her experiences were regarded scientifically can be found here: Applied Science & Analysis newsletter.
She was a friend of David Kelly. A newspaper report describing she and Kelly can be found here: Guardian / UK
She was boots on the ground in Iraq, as was Hans Blix. One of them was lying.
There may have been false intelligence. We have documented case after case of found WMD’s. False intelligence could have said that he had a ready to go dirty weapon, anthrax delivery systems.
We found shells with mustard gas, cyclosarin, buried missile systems.
The Brits, Italian, German and Egyptians all were aboard.
I believed it and still do. I subscribe to the theory that the WMD were moved to Syria. Reports from our troops during the Iraq invasion said that the Iraqi troops all had protective clothing.
Saddam paid a lot of money to have stores of bio and chem weapons. If he never actually had them because all his “diplomats” absconded with huge amounts of $$, as did the European manufacturers/suppliers with all their kickbacks, Saddam did not know it.
Bush was talking about false intelligence on those Mushroom Cloud makers, nuke development. The other stuff was not considered a serious threat to the USA.
At least Bush was honest about not finding them. Obama on the other hand still claims to have created millions of jobs, when it's obvious to everyone it's a lie. Ever hear:”Obama lied, USA bankrupt”. ?? OK, I know, it doesn't rhyme. The eerie parallel is the claim of both being told by 'experts'. Now the democrats use the same arguments they ridiculed about listening to the experts. (Then they lie and just make up jobs that never existed.)
