Death to Apostates: Not a Perversion of Islam, but Islam
National Review ^ | Andrew c. McCarthy

The underlying premise of the democracy project is the former sense of “civilization.” As I argued at the time, the real world is the latter. And now, five years removed from the Abdul Rahman case, five more years of intensive, costly American entanglement with Afghanistan, Paul Marshall gives us the harrowing plight of Said Musa. When he told the Afghan court he was a Christian man, no Afghan defense lawyer would have anything to do with him — except the one who spat on him. He was thrown in jail as an apostate among 400 Afghan Muslims, and he has since been beaten, mocked, deprived of sleep, derisively referred to as “Jesus Christ,” and sexually abused. And just as no Afghan lawyer was willing to aid an apostate, the Afghan sharia state declined to aid him — refusing him access to foreign counsel. We think of this as an affront to civilization. They, on the other hand, think they have their own civilization, and that our civilization and Said Musa are affronts to it.

The affront here is our own betrayal of our own principles. The Islamic democracy project is not democratizing the Muslim world. It is degrading individual liberty by masquerading sharia, in its most draconian form, as democracy. The only worthy reason for dispatching our young men and women in uniform to Islamic countries is to destroy America’s enemies. Our armed forces are not agents of Islamic social justice, and stabilizing a sharia state so its children can learn to hate the West as much as their parents do is not a mission the American people would ever have endorsed. It is past time to end this failed experiment.

Alas, every time a group of nominal Muslims begins to take the Koran seriously, this is what happens. They fall into Mad Mo’s murderous madness. I have a big problem with the promulgation of any religion that views such foul activities as being in its job description.

Are we really there to spread democracy, or to keep trillions of dollars’ worth of minerals from falling into the hands of the Chicoms?

To be honest, I’m unenthusiastic about the idea of my son dying either for mineral rights or for the preservation of one single Afghan Muslim. I think the place is beyond redemption, contaminated with their absolutely foul “religion.” The Devil inhabits that place. Nor is this anything new, as any nation that ventured there could show.

Some of us Nam Vets have seen the handwriting on the wall for some time now and feared that in years to come (much the same as we came to realize) our Brave Warriors will be asking was the Blood and Treasure we expended on these 2 Turd-World Crapholes and the sacrifices they made, worth it?

Sadly, I predict the answer will be the same: A resounding NO!

Considering the overly restrictive ROE's (which make our insane one's during Nam appear modest) insures that we will never prevail military over the bad guys.

I was discussing this yesterday at a VFW here in Tampa where I am vacationing with some ol' Marines and we all expressed the same sentiment as the apparent lack of our using air power.

I realize the terrain, caves, etc. as well as the Moozies not congregating in large numbers does not make for many useful air strikes, but where there are some found, why have we not sent in a wave of BUFF's (Big Ugly Fat Fookers, B-52's) or other bombers, to send them on their way to their 72 virgins?

While there may well be close air support, other than helicopters, I've not heard of the use to fighters, cruise missiles, etc. to also eliminate the ragheads.

Considering we have no intention or will to win (by whatever criteria one wishes to apply) it's time to pack up and come home.

I have not read a better summation of the reality of the so called WOT. This needs to be read and understood.

Christian civilization has had to confront Islam since its invention. Somehow, our generation seems to believe we can convert THEM to peaceful coexistence.

Our generation is surely as deluded as Chamberlain was at Munich.
