CAIRO – Libyan security forces opened fired on mourners at a funeral for anti-government protesters in the eastern city of Benghazi again Sunday, a day after commandos and foreign mercenaries loyal to longtime leader Moammar Gadhafi pummeled demonstrators with assault rifles and other heavy weaponry as well as knives. A doctor at one city hospital said he counted 200 dead in his morgue alone since unrest began six days ago.

The crackdown in Libya is shaping up to be the most brutal repression of the anti-government protests that began with uprisings that toppled the regimes in Tunisia and Egypt. The protests then spread quickly around the region to Bahrain, Yemen, Libya, Algeria, Morocco and outside the Middle East to places including the East African nation of Djibouti and even China.

What is it about Muslims with combining funerals and target practice?

I guess it’s part of their combining of “Friday prayers” with rape and mayhem. Just one of those cute little traditions that make them so loveable.

Hussein Obama ... the nation and world waits your response. Whose side are you on - the dictator, or the ‘people’ who are wanting freedom?

What no outcry about this behavior? Well, maybe col ghadaffi had good reason for murdering his citizens. Maybe they didn’t show appropriate “respect” or something? Possibly, behind the scenes hillary clintoon is doing some sort of important diplomatic work there? Anyway...who are we to judge?

The Western countries, especially the Brits are in a tough spot. They have billions in contracts with Gaddafi, hell the Brits sold them the sniper rifles they are using the shoot protestors.

Smoking a few hundred unarmed civilians with a minigun mounted on an aerial platform is fun as all get out.

What is more pleasurable are the western nitwits who manufacture those guns and platforms and give you them for free; Then love your a$$ for using them on those sandeater brown peoples.

We have a bunch of them in our congress, and one in the OO.

I think we're seeing the pattern now. Those governments who do fall will do so to Islamic fundamentalists, but those governments that hold on will do so by mass murder and oppression. I can predict this pattern quite easily because it's happened before. Think Jordan in 1970. Think Iran in 1979. We've seen this before, if not in the precise details then in the broad strokes.

Not to worry, though. Hillary Clinton is on the case, bashing Israel over settlements.

What a stupid comment. I didn't say it was the Brits fault. I said they were in an uncomfortable position.

I shall add that I am well aware that we do not give these units to Lybia for free. We give them to others for free, then they give them to the queefer.

It is all fun and games, as long as you are the right end of the gun.

Mubarak’s legacy is getting a quick rehab job.

He was unwilling to kill his people in the numbers required to stay in power. However, the rest of the world of dictators and tyrants have not quite reached the same conclusion.

The Chinese knew how to do it, and their advice will be followed - if you are going to kill protesters, kill a lot of them.

Why do people in the West pretend to act surprised?

Stupid comment. Gaddaffi is a douche who should have been killed by western intellegence agencies years ago. He trained and supplied various terrorist agencies from the 70s right up until the 90s, he refused to punish whoever was responsible for killing WPC Yvonne Fletcher amongst many other outrages. Now he is turning loose mercanary thugs to fire live ammunition into crowds rightfully protesting against his violent, oppressive rule.

Personally, I hope they demonstrators succeed in overthrowing him and lynch him like Mussolini. He fully deserves it...

Oh excuse me, when you wrote “the Western countries, especially the Brits are in a tough spot” I assumed you meant they were in that spot of their own making for selling the firearms to the Libyans....

If I am said to be in a “tough spot”, it invariably means I am in the tough spot as a result of something of my own intentional making so yes, it would be my fault.
