The U.S. Navy was repositioning its heavy-hitting warships around North Africa tonight as America and Britain dramatically increased pressure on Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi.

The aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, which had been on pirate-hunting duty off the coast of Somalia, has now steamed to the mouth of the Suez Canal in the Red Sea.

The deadly strike force aboard the nuclear-powered carrier is already within flying distance of Libya but the Enterprise is said to be heading closer to country and its rogue dictator.

Our Naval assets should have been used to evacuate our personnel, not a ferry!! Other countries have been using their navcanal forces to evacuate their personnel and we rented a ferry

Well I certainly agree with you on that,

“...I think one Photon torpedo aught to do it!...”

Make that two photon torps. They would make a nicer display. They would also serve to make strong points, the way Fat Man and Little Boy did back in 1945.

No kidding. The proper response would be the use of an LHD and marines to bomb the pirate ships in port and raid the coastal villages that support for the pirates.

So the US Navy is going to help end Qadaffi’s military attacks on the growing Emirate of Barqa, which has ties to AQIM. This isn’t going to bite us in the rear.

Ahoy old Mayport neighbor. Saratoga 1977-1981

If I only had the paycheck I make today and the liberty time I had in Naples or Barcelona back then - what a wonderful world it would be :-)

Of course my wife may have something to say about it.
Puuff - vision gone.

"Well I certainly agree with you on that, "

The excuse I heard was that we did not want to have a hard military presense in case they would try to take American's hostages. That is such a load of BS crap!! This "fear" apparently did not stop other countries from using their naval assets. This is not the first time that we have had to evacuate American personnel from a civil war torn country. However, I'd be willing to bet its the first time that the U.S. government rented a ferry instead of using our military assets.

This President is weak and shrinks from what needs to be done. Don't think the rest of the world picks up on this. It invites agressive action towards Americans abroad. This whole debacle also shows potential allies (Libyan revolutionaries) that we are not a nation that can be trusted to stand for liberty and freedom. We will go whichever way the wind blows. Followers, not leaders.

So you flew the SH-2 Sea Sprite and then transitioned to the CH-46? What was that like?

This is being done in the event that oil shipment become in jeapordy. If chaos erupts, lines get torched, and enemies threaten worldwide distribution of petroleum from region.

big picture, not to attack libya

...so you would know they weren't out of hydraulic fluid.

No, I didn't work on F-14s. A-7As were the same. Yeah, and oil too.

Hillary’s call for the old man to leave likely came after she was informed of what is really going on. She is at least a week and a hundred million $$$ late

Exactly where Obama wants her to be. Out of the loop and on the shelf, running late and frazzled from meeting to meeting.

Like FDR parking MacArthur in Manila for years on end as the Japanese prepared for World War II. As long as Mac was in Manila, he wasn't available for the GOP nomination in 1940, which was what FDR was really worried about (after Huey Long was removed).

Unlike Sarah, Hillary doesn't have a Plan B -- or loves power so much, she can't let go even when she's being run ragged by O-Dog and his homies. "Hey, White B**** -- go back and clean the toilets again! You missed a spot!"

"And this time -- use your tongue!"
